Just saw a scorpion in my house !!!!!

FUUUUUUUUCK

I hate the day I moved to this house, in my previous one in 2 years the only animal i saw was a samll lizard. In this house I've been infested by spiders, ants,
about 2 million different moths, and now a fucking scorpion.

I saw it close to my front door, and while looking for something to cover it with, the fucker walked out under the door. It was a very small one - about 3-4 centiimeters, but big enough to creep me out !!!

welcome to Florida???? those little scorpions are pretty common here

for some reason they like to live in between the mattress and boxspring and come out at night to bite you in your sleep

Look at the coloring.

Black and Red, friend of Fred.
Black and Yellow, Kills a fellow.

Or something like that :)

Time to change the seals on your doors.

Antonio 04-07-2005 09:09 PM

Had to Google this shit:

Scorpions are generally absent from the urban environment. One exception is Pseudolychas pegleri which is known to enter houses. Uroplectes triangulifer also enters houses but only on rare occasions. Anyone living on in adjacent to rocky ridges may also find Hadogenes gunningi on the odd oocasion. None of these species are highly venomous.

I feel a bit better now ;)

They usually travel in pairts so be sure to empty out your shoes before putting them on. Have tons of them here, my cat usually takes care of them all though.

Yeah my dogs used to play with Scorpions when they were puppies, in Costa Rica.

When I was a kid we had an infestation of scorpions that came out of the bathtub drain (I lived in West Texas). I've been stung by a couple. Those things are EXTREMELY painful.

On one occasion I remember clearly I stepped on one in the house and my dad cut the wound and sucked the poison out of my toe... I think it hurt too much to laugh about.

reynold 04-07-2005 11:55 PM

Good luck pal. It's too hard to kill a scorpion.

Zebra 04-08-2005 12:03 AM

I usually find about 5-10 scorpions a summer in my house. Usually just scoop them up with a cup and flush them.
Been stung once and it was only about as bad as a wasp sting. Gotta watch out though if you step on them because they can sting several times in a row and that will leave your foot hurting like a muthafucka!

you had it right the first time

also, the smaller the claws the more deadly

wargames 04-08-2005 12:20 AM

try those anti-roach chalks it's good at repelling all known insects

lagwagon 04-08-2005 12:24 AM

my partner got stung by one, so he kept it in a microdrive case until it died. was pretty cool to look at up close. I cant say that i really enjoy the company of scorpions.

spideriux 04-08-2005 06:55 AM

ohhh that's shit....

One of my German Shepherds had a scorpion in his mouth when I lived in LA. Damn thing had gotten all the way to our 2nd floor right outside my bedroom. That really freaked me out and its quite possible my dog sensed this critter does not belong here and took the bite for what could have been my foot.

The scorpion stung him and my dog started frothing at the mouth when I got to him and realized what was in his mouth. We rushed him to the vet and luckily the bite wasn't long enough to get much venom in and he was fine.

He caught one more inside the house months later. This time just barking at it and pawing it instead of grabbing it with his mouth.

He also caught a rattle snake coming up to the house near the back door and completely severed off its head without getting bitten.

One of the reasons I love German Shepherds. They instinctively know to protect their masters at all costs even to their own lives.

Wiggles 04-08-2005 08:59 AM

i would fucking freak out if i saw a scorpion, i fucking hate insects and shit!

Antonio 04-08-2005 10:43 AM

I got the fucker this morning, believe it or not it was sleeping in front of the door, I just got it in a glass, and threw it about 20 meters from my house. I think they sleep during the day, and are active at noght.

It was even smaller than I thought, the reson it freaked me out was that I didn't even know that there were any scorpions in South Africa!!!

loverboy 04-08-2005 12:30 PM

don't be caught off-guard while sleeping , best advice
you'll never know how many are there
