Anybody here in PA area having serious problems with Comcast, been out for about 10-11 hours now. For once its letting me on the internet but it will be back down shortly. Its fixed for like 2 minutes so yeah i gotta hurry. everybody in my area's comcast is down even Dubcash Dave's :/ so

comcast blew in illinois DSL 5 times as fast and 100times more stable

For awhile Comcast was working fine...a couple minor outages (for like 2 min) but nothing major like this. I called them up and raised hell this afternoon, I told them I have a business to run and I need a connection...then he said that i'm not supposed to be running a biz using resedential - apparantly it's against their tos. I used to like Comcast, but after today i'm debating switching to another service along with my boy toy Bly.

I know Comcast is based in PA, but are they nationwide or what?

it went down for me, but I went into my lan settings and switched it manual entering of ip and dns servers and it started working instantly again

i wuld suggest setting your own choice of dns instead of letting them automatically pick their own, it worked for me

I didn't check ftp, but I could get my mail and use aim/icq fine, but no pages would load. It was weird.

Comcast has been fucked in Jersey on and off since Monday. Comcast is screwed up in most of the nation. Seems a bit better now though here in jersey.. we'll see.

Its back working fine, fast as hell as usual here. Their business plan offers alot more than residential plan, same day technicians and shit like that, a dedicated network and so forth. The residential plan is what they consider recreational. I havent had 1 problem in 9 months til now. Never down or anything, and it was a nationwide issue, so it must have been major. No biggie

Their residential has been pretty fucking solid until the last week here.

The only problem is they change every 7 days. I should have thought of that though.

I told them that so they know i'm not just bitching because I can't meet my buddies in aol chat or some shit, but that I need this for my business.

Yeah, I have been meaning to inquire about that. How much are you paying for it?

i don't use their dns servers...you know you CAN surf on someone elses dns servers, and it isn't against the law or anything

comcast DOES have static dns though, been the same for years

can someone change their dns to that for me and see if this solves their connection problems? cause it worked for me

I use the residential service, I have 2 seperate high speed connections, 1 upstairs and 1 downstairs. I needed as many ip addys as possible and its maxed out at 5 per account, so I got 2 accounts. Business didnt offer that. They figure most businesses run routers with multiple pc's and do all that ip configuring and shit internally or whatever. But like I say they been solid as a fuckin rock for as long as I can remember. No biggie really. I can hit everything as usual now so i can only assume its good to go. :2 cents:

I have 3.
I need one for me for my work, one for my brother who I live with who is starting in the biz (and thus needs a seperate ip for submitting and such) and another one for his XBox.

was out here in NJ.. i've noticed downtime for a few days now.. at $40+ a month i dont see its value anymore

It was down here in Colorado for about 4+ hours but seems to be working fine again.

Give them a ring and they will compensate you for the downtime... that is if you can get through

That lags big time usually.
Always thought it was somekinda dns thing
All else connects fast, just yahoo email pukes out and needs 1-2-3 attempts

I tried to get their "business class" service a while ago.

Being right near downtown Chicago wasn't in their 'service area" yet whatever that meant LOL

Never really had any probs with them for the last year
Fast as hell

Before comcast I had a real T1 line coming into the loft, even that was iffy at times and comcast "is" faster at a fraction of the price so I'm basically happy.

had some problems in chicago last 24 hours, its been fine for a while now.

we have been going through the same problems here.

I don't use Comcast but I use Road Runner and one time when it went out, I was screaming at the lady saying that I'm losing money with their cable being down and she calmly didn't give a flying fuck and told me that I would still have to wait at least 7 days before somebody would be willing to come out.

Apparently if you pay extra for "business class" you get better service. That's bullshit. There's plenty of people who use residential connections to run their business.
