I need a pda phone.. show me your favorites

I've never had one... and I think one would improve my entire lifestyle... It is time...

How long can you keep them on and connected? There's unlimited isn't there instead of per minute I assume?

I use Verizon if that makes any difference.

WiredGuy 04-07-2005 12:00 PM

I love having a BlackBerry :)

RRRED 04-07-2005 12:11 PM

Blackberrys aren't as gigantic anymore right?

Oh and the most important thing, I really need this to have camera, flash, and video... The camera on mine sucks total ass.

candyflip 04-07-2005 12:23 PM

Doesn't matter who your provider is if you get an unlocked phone.

I like the Motorola smartphones, specifically the MPX300. I've got the 200 and there's a 220 that has the camera and Bluetooth.

I know two people who have gotten this phone and within weeks dumped it for something new.

I think a few others here have as well.

That's not a good sign to me.

I love mine.

I love that it's still a phone and not a huge Palmpilot I get to carry in my pocket.

The 7100 model is their smallest one, same size as a regular cell phone and has a camera I believe (not 100% sure). I doubt it has video/flash though.

The Treo is unbeatable. But don't take it from me, take it from the entire staff of the number one business consulting firm in the world KPMG. They gave their 2,000 employees the choice of sicking with their Blackberrys or switching to the Treo.

5 out of 6 KPMG employees switched to the Treo!

I don't know about you but if the company that focuses on productivity overwhelmingly switches from the Blackberry to the Treo I think that tells you something huh?

I will get this beauty within few days...

I still love my i500. It looks like a lil ole clamshell cellphone but has everything I need to work away from the office. The only thing I would want to add is a camera. I just don't like these pda's designed like the Treo. I want small compact and something that draws little or no attention. Oh yea I love the graffitti pad. I damn sure don't want to be pressing allthem damn buttons on that frigging Treo. Or having to attach a keyboard :321GFY

Sosa 04-07-2005 07:13 PM

i would love to get one, but out here we have nothing that will help me. Our service sucks ass

Loryn 04-07-2005 07:20 PM

I just got the PPC 6600 and I love it. It has a Windows XP interface. It's just like having a mini laptop in your hand. It's the best phone I have ever bought. I post on GFY, ICQ people from it I check my mail, send pictures and videos I shoot with it. I love it!

wargames 04-07-2005 08:41 PM

Wow those PDA phones are cool!

mrsexkey 04-07-2005 08:43 PM

Hey red,

I got the same phone that Loryn is talking about. It is on the verizon network and works very well. runs windows mobile, has a slideout keyboad as well. very slick. If you do get it, look on the internet for an extended battery. The one that comes with it wont last a day. Other than that, its great.

sence no one has really addressed this
Most cell companys dont offer an unlimited package for blackberrys and pda phones

they sell you data packages for like 179$ a month and you burn thru the data package just checking email half way thru the month

4Pics 04-07-2005 09:06 PM

Go for the Treo 650. It's great until you drop it :)

T-mobile offers an unlimited data plan for $20 a month!

I will admit this is true. A hard drop will crack the screen. Handle with care.

On the flipside, it is the best and if you get it through Sprint you can get unlimited web browsing that you can also connect to your laptop and surf at average speeds about 3 times dial up.

pradaboy 04-07-2005 10:24 PM

I just ordered the Qtek S100... it's available as I-Mate JAM in the US

http://www.clubic.com/photo/00111568.jpg

excellent device, played with it in the store. Simple windows interface. Small, simple yet stylish design. I think I'm gonna love it... I'll have it in my hands on monday/tuesday :thumbsup

most of them will hold at least for 24 hours on intensive usage and 48 hours on moderate usage

RRRED 04-08-2005 12:18 PM

:Oh crap http://www.blackberry.com/compare/?CPID=ILC-nahcompare Shit there's a bazillion of them!

mattyboy 04-08-2005 01:09 PM

I've had the MPX200 and the 02 XDAII which has Windows mobile as the OS... and they are soooooo sluggish - battery life was also bad lasting little more than a day. I got so pissed off the the 02 i threw it down the stairs in a fit of rage!

I also had the Treo 600 which was awesome and got a Treo 650 today (only just available in the UK now) and its great. Moving through programs is nice and quick and the battery is meant to last for about a week (the old Treo 600 did).
The keyboard is something i couldn't live without now and its still pretty small for a PDA/phone.

Someone in Cancun told me to go through the european websites to buy the newest phones and such and they're supposedly way cheaper...? Do you do this or know of any sites?

No, i only buy from UK stores as the models vary i believe (GSM over here). The Treo 650 has been available in the US for months now but here none of the mobile providers are selling it yet. I only know of one retailer who are selling the UK version and they had less than 500 units - who i got mine from :thumbsup
I still think the US is the cheapest for phones, though different countries get different models.

mattyboy 04-08-2005 01:37 PM

Forgot the link
Convert that to US Dollars and its over 1K !! definately not cheaper.

bdld 04-08-2005 01:40 PM

i love this thread now i've got to get one, they seem pretty neat and quite useful. im always carrying around a small sony camera, small LG phone, and my pda.
