Kidney stones?
I go in friday for x-rays. My dad just had a 9mm and a 6mm stone removed. Any of you had them? Passed them?
|
My mom had one years back and it was so big they had to cut it out. The doctor kept it so he could show interns what a huge kidney stone looked like. If you have them you will know it as the pain is almost unbearabe. My mom said giving birth was easy compared to having kidney stones.

I have had 4 in life time so far. It feels like someone is pinching and sticking in a pair of long nose pliers in your back and twisting them at the same time. The pain is so bad that you would gladly let someone shoot you to put you out of your misery.
I have only passed 1 the other 3 needed to be taken out on the table.. Not to mention the garden hose they place up your track for 2 or 3 days after.. what fun... marbles would be fine stones have sharp edges. |
And just remember, guys have a much longer urethra so passing them is that much more painfull.
And yes it way out beats child birth for pain. |
Ouch Toddler it sucks.. I wish you a fast recovery :)

0y wife just had one, WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT! The nurse told us it is 5-10 times worse than natural childbirth. Goof luck man. |

I remember years back when I was in a hardcore band, we were playing a big show up in Boston. We were in a giant auditorium and one of the guys from the other band ran into the bathroom with his buddies. What followed was some of the loudest screaming I ever heard. It went on for several minutes, too. Afterwards... this dude comes walking out showing everyone this kidney stone he just passed. Unbelievable... and then an hour later he's on stage playing the show.
Not sure if anyone is from the old school hardcore scene, but the band was Earth Crisis. I'll never forget those screams though... - PornAddict |
Thankfully, I have only had them once and that was likely one of the worse weeks I've lived through. Nothing worse than finding that one way to curl up without the pain, and God I don't know what I would have done without Vicodin, I was popping those like they were candy.
I finally passed those stones and had them encased in lucite. :1orglaugh |
it hurts just thinking about it :disgust

I'm not that bad, yet. occasional stabbing pains in my lower inner back, but nothing to put me on the floor. hopefully that means I caught 'em early. that or my pain tolerance is higher than it ought to be(which my dentist seems to agree with :\ ) |
I had em last year, woke up one morning in crazy pain, doubled over. Went to the hospital, got an IV and sat there all night, passed em 3 days later, didnt hurt 1 bit pissin em out, I think the pain is generated when they are moving down as they are very small but looked at closely have jagged edges all the way around them. Didn't even feel em come out pissing, just noticed em in the strainer the hospital gives you so they can examine them, its better than tryin to fish them out of the toilet :1orglaugh

The pain is bad...if you are saying it is not too bad then wait till it travels closer. I had most of my large intestine removed and that pain was off the hook but when I got the stone I thought it was the start of my past illness.
I never heard anyone say the pain was not so bad. |
I have had them a few times myself. I agree about the pain. I was begging the nurse to give me pain meds and I normally do not take them. I try and stay away from any and all drugs but this was one of those times when it did not matter. I threw up from the pain which they said was common. I don't wish that pain on anybody...well maybe one or two people that will remain nameless and are not associated with the board :winkwink:

Just happened to a relative of mine. Time to drink more cranberry juice.

I've been getting kidney stones since I was in 6th grade. I used to think it was related to drinking a lot of beer, but I'm basically a tea totaller these past 5+ years, and I just had them three times in the past year. Two of these times I needed to go to the emergency room because I couldn't take the pain anymore after about 5-6 hours. Both of those times, the stones were larger than .177 BB's. Pissing them thru the bladder and out is not the problem, it's the stone traveling thru the kidney and the ureter.
Sometimes, it's the most discomfort I have ever experienced. Much worse than broken bones, cuts, punctures - even making an acute gangrenous appedicitis feel like a walk on the beach. Other times, you just run a temperature, and perhaps notice a little soreness on your lower back. |
Ya I've passed two in the past year.. the first wasn't so bad, it started out feeling like a lower back ache and upset stomach. By the time it had entered my urinery track I was already at the hospital and had morphine flowing threw me. Passed it in like 6 hours.
When I passed this last one.. I thought I would be tough and wait it out at home the first day, well 10 days later... 6 of them in the hospital and 2 kidney infections back to back the stubborn little bastard finally passed. The worst pain is traveling from the kidney to your bladder. Once it reaches your bladder it usually breaks up on its own and you never feel it when pissing. If you aren't feeling that much pain right now, it's probably because it hasn't completely entered your urinery track. Trust me you will know when it does. A good sign that is fully in your track is when you can't take a leak no matter how hard you try and you will feel like you have to about every 10 minutes. It gets reall annoying taking a trip to the bathroom that often only to piss out a couple of drops. Good luck and make sure you have a large supplly of hella good pain pills with you every where you go. |
to those of you have it ryt now... hoping for your immediate recovery..

Yes, drink lots of water, and try to drink cranberry juice. If you hate the taste of straight up cranberry juice, try cran-grape or some other mix.
Good luck with them, hopefully they are a mild case, and dont give you much trouble. |
Hope everything will be okay.
|
hope you get well soon
|
So sad to hear that. Hope you get well soon.
