How Would You Invest $500, $5K, $10K, $25K, $50K, $100K? (adult biz)

Serious question. I invest primarily in property, financial instruments, small offline businesses. Aside from ppc, the work I do online rarely requires much investment. Tell me - and others - where to invest our casholla?

shuki 04-06-2005 10:34 AM

If you want to put money into adult ask yourself these questions.

1. How invloved in day to day do I want to get?
2. Do I want to buy an existing site or start from scratch?

I put up a thread asking to buy sites from people with a soft budget of $50K honestly not much was available. Anything half decent will be higher than that and even higher than your $100K budget. You can however build something more than half decent with that budget. I plan on and am starting plans to do just that.

Send me an e-mail if you want to chat mre about it.

Peter Romero 04-06-2005 10:36 AM

Give it to me & I'll tell you later.

Thanks for the great reply shuki. I will email you sometime today. The budget is fairly flexible. I'm under 3 years in the biz, still have much to learn, so I'm just contemplating larger figures at this stage. I'd buy a house for $300K because I know that biz, but it's a different matter with the adult biz.

To answer your questions :

1. Little involvement. I'm already too busy. I'm interested in investing a figure and seeing regular return (arent we all?? ha)

2. Not too concerned and it doesn't have to be a site.

:)

Kristian 04-06-2005 10:56 AM

Anyone else? :)

Arousal Design 04-06-2005 10:59 AM

What side of the biz are you looking to invest in?

Traffic? Sites? Content?

JFPdude 04-06-2005 10:59 AM

Well here's my 2cents ..

First I would search out what part of the industry I can understand the most and relate with. Because investing blindly and not knowing what you are investing in can cause a 100,000 dollar idea and domain be worth 1dollar in less than a week.

You're right.

I would never invest blindly. I'm no guru, but I can work out most things, so if a good investment appears I'm happy to investigate.

Kristian 04-06-2005 11:07 AM

A good investment can really be anything though. Sites, paying for knowledge (ie seo), whatever. For instance, I can spend a lot on adwords, but I can spend 9 bucks on a domain (latetaxes.com) and sell it for $3K. I'm open to any kind of idea and hopefully it'll be helpful to other webmasters with a few bucks to spend.

SinisterStudios 04-06-2005 11:33 AM

Hit me up, and well chat i might have something that might interest you.

Kristian 04-06-2005 01:33 PM

Some good stuff in this thread already, btw. Totally crazy ass day here for me, so excuse me if I don't respond to everyone, or send emails right away. :)

Peter Romero 04-06-2005 01:45 PM

I'd answer your question in great detail but I'm working right now and don't have time.

However... if you may be interested in outsourcing some of your labor to me, I would answer in great detail privately because free advice is only for entertainment.

In the short, stay close to wha you know, & seek out those with knowledge in areas that you arent proficient & make them a deal.

hydro 04-06-2005 01:59 PM

i'd buy a darkmailer crack, 100 million email list, proxies, and start spamming. forreal :Graucho

DomBuyer 04-06-2005 02:05 PM

I make between 30 and 50% return on domain investments in as little as a week. If I hold the names, my money is usually paid out within a year and I own 100% of the asset, which, depending on the domain market, nets me as much as 500% investment when/if I sell.

I have never found a return that comes close and involves so little effort.

I pay cash, and I pay within 24 hours. It's the only way to get people to sell to you. Then it's like a snowball because you front end your names and your rep, and literally the job gets easier and easier.

Two weeks ago I bought a name for $20k, and just made $25k NET on that investment. Happens all the time.

Repeat repeat repeat. :pimp

This is great advice and I'd certainly like to get more involved. I need to spend more time learning the ropes (there are some good threads already on gfy). I have the funds to invest but I wouldn't know a good domain from a bad one. So, yes, I would say domain trading is certainly one avenue I'll be exploring.

I know you're probably joking / taking the piss, but I'd actually like to get more into email marketing. :) I have my own newsletters but it's slow work growing them.

Maybe find yourself a small to medium size program and invest the money. Become a silent partner. Little work with a nice return.

JayRevenue 04-06-2005 05:53 PM

I have something for you. (non adult)

If you would like to earn money on your investment with very little risk and no work on your part contact me.
