I think it's based on an old tradition - (Home is where the heart is?) Sounds a bit barbaric, but also has some logic to it.

I´m Polish and I know how much the Pope means to the Polish people but I would prefer if he took his resting place along with the other Popes in the Vatican. :2 cents:
