To Xeon or not to Xeon?

Looking at getting a new computer this week.

Super Micro X6DAE-G2 Motherboard

MrJackMeHoff 04-04-2005 11:44 PM

I hope to get my dual Xeon system within 2 weeks.
I will be fucking fast I think :winkwink:

I'm mixed, I have heard some good and some bad about them.

I dont want to drop a bunch of cash on a system and have something be better for the same price.

I was also looking at the P4 3.73GHz Extreme, 2MB, 1066MHz FSB with the new 925XE chipset.

Depending on your needs you can pick up a dual proc 3.06 xeon system for 1200ish at Dell right now (free second processor upgrade).. only comes with 512 megs of ram, but you can buy some ram from crucial and get it upgraded to whatever for half or less from what Dell charges. It's the poweredge 2600 under outrageous deals.
