VNC Experts?? Need help getting through the firewall.
Os = W2K
works locally, but having problems getting through Netopia fire wall with NAT and DHCP on - I set a static IP outside the DHCP range and test locally. all works fine. Just can't get through the firewall. Pinholed ports 5800-5801 TCP and 3800 - 3801 UDP. I've turned IPsec on and off = no help. HELP! :helpme |
Google reveals I'm not the only one with the problem.
BTW, I have static IPS and don't have to worry about PPoe issues. Setup on the public net, it works fine too, but not gonna leave the PC exposed like that. Guess my solution will be to use one of my static IPs on a different router. That will still leave me with a security headache. |
are you using the viewer program or the web feature???
if you are using the viewer you need to forward for 5900 |

forwarded 5900 TCP port 5800 for udp |
dont need 5800 unless you have the java web viewer enabled.
I set 5900 tcp/udp forwarding in my router, have never had a problem with several diff routers. Do you happen to also have windows XP firewall enabled, on top of your Netopia Firewall? |
