groark 04-02-2005 11:08 PM

xclusive 04-02-2005 11:08 PM

Think again :) Nowadays its pure experience, reputation, and most importantly NUMBERS... if you can't produce numbers and you don't know anything or anybody, you aren't worth shit.

Sosa 04-02-2005 11:53 PM

i'm sure a lot of them are on commissions which would suck to be on.

Salary+Commisons most of the time

Boss Traffic Jim 04-03-2005 12:20 AM

Most of them don't make diddly thats why they are always jumping from 1 program to another, and are always broke sig whores. :2 cents: Usually a new sponsor takes them on and uses them for their contacts for a few weeks or a few months, then after all their contacts are used up the sponsor cans them yet still has all of their contacts promoting their programs. :2 cents: :2 cents:

Mutt 04-03-2005 12:25 AM

i think the number of those people making more than 100k a year can be counted on one hand - hmmm, maybe two hands - still just a handful.

That sounds around the right level of professionalism to expect in this game.

Ive never understood the affiliate manager role and what they make and their usefulness. I've been making adult sites for 6-7 years and in all that time, I've never come across a affiliate manager to do anything useful for me. Contrary, most of them fuck up the most basic things. SO maybe they do good shit for the high rollers or something, it's all a mystery to me :1orglaugh

nastyking 04-03-2005 07:33 AM

my affiliate rep at my favourite mainstream network makes good six figures ...

haha hydro you bad boy.

Does the gender and attractiveness of an account rep generally influence webmaster's decision to work with a company?

That does seem to happen enough. Still, there are some programs like adult.com that seem to have very little turnover. They keep account reps for years.

Satisfaction 04-03-2005 08:03 AM

yeh im sure adult.com is only one of few though..

Tom_PM 04-03-2005 08:13 AM

You'll offer to pay someone what you think they're worth, and someone will do the job if it seems a fair amount in their judgement.

I don't think you'll get any exact numbers..

This makes sense. Assuming you have the numbers part down. What would you recommend to an aspiring account rep to get the experience and reputation parts? Should they work for one company? Many companies?

Tom_PM 04-03-2005 08:22 AM

Be consistent :) Your reputation preceeds you through every door.

If they were paid versus their sucessful reps as a whole in this industry. Most wouldn't be worth.. :2 cents:

There are a few that actyally know what they're doing, like Pattye, Scooter and a few others...

brilsmurf 04-03-2005 08:27 AM

about 3k i guess

Basic_man 04-03-2005 08:28 AM

I still think it's more profitable to be a webmaster than a rep sale :P

Cash 04-03-2005 09:03 AM

Probably 1-2k plus more depending how many new webmasters you can recruit ...

They should probably start out working for themselves... so they will be more understanding of why a webmaster usually comes to them when theyre at their wits end, very demanding, and whiny. You need to be available most of the time because when it comes to the point where they need something from you, they more than likely need it NOW.... like if they're updating links and need galleries, I try to just get all that for them so they don't have to do anything.

You can't just spam the shit out of everyone. If you're going to try to get someone to try your program, you need to try and do as much work as possible FOR them and the only way you can do that is to be able to think LIKE them and KNOW what they're looking for and need. Know their site already and be able to make suggestion as to where they should add you and why.

Most importantly never burn your bridges. You never know where you'll end up later on. Just because some sex toy company or certain cc processors aren't something you can make money off of now, who's to say they aren't worth getting to know anyway. They have clients that they can introduce to YOU and vice versa... it's all karma. Being helpful in many ways to many people. It all comes back sooner or later.

FreeHugeMovies 04-03-2005 06:22 PM

Different companies pay different. Lots of companies underpay their affiliate reps. Lauree Lee is going to laugh when she sees this post. But, she doesn't know html, php to my knowledge. hehe

interesting thread.

Snake Doctor 04-03-2005 09:54 PM

Asking how much an account rep makes it like asking how much a car salesman or real estate agent makes.

The top 10% make a bloody killing, the middle 80% barely get by, and the bottom 10% are starving.

Which kind you get for your program depends on how much you're willing to pay.
