I Just Got Back From The State Of The Industry Seminar

Very good group of speakers on stage... Some great topics were discussed

Things seemed to get a bit heated when the topic of what content is acceptable and what is not. I think the one fellow who expressed his dislike for the ultra hardcore porn won't be a fan favorite of some of the hardcore content companies/sites we all know. He might want to skip tonite's gangbang shoot ;)

It seems the billing companies have really got their stuff together now and are becoming much more cautious with their billing and who/what sites they accept for processing. I personally feel a lot better getting the word directly from the top guys on what's going on with them.

Tony from National Net is always one of my favorite speakers as he speaks from the gut and tells it like it is. He had us rolling a couple of times in the aisles :)

Anyways great seminar guys, it's nice to get a bunch of top dogs into a room and shoot the shit about what's going on in the industry.

It was a good seminar.

This post went virtually unnoticed, as do most "business" related threads.

So true.......

Thanks DH,

I appreciate hearing about these things. Though, it makes me want to get off my ass and come to some shows/meets. :)

Forkbeard 04-01-2005 06:41 PM

It *was* a good seminar.

However, much as I despise some of the extreme content out there, I firmly believe that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I just don't think it makes sense for *anybody* in the adult industry to point fingers at others in the industry and say "you guys make us all look bad." It may be true, but it's not prudent.

We must all hang together, or we shall most assuredly all hang separately.

I really was shocked to hear major players in the industry dissing consensually-made fetish porn.

That's because GFY is a surfer forum, similar to SA or CJ.

Ha, same goes for my very tame gay porn productions. Everyone freaks out. It's ridiculous. People, does MONEY gross you out?

They were referring to the really super-extreme shit that degrades people. I'd have to agree with them.

According to a lot of the public, all porn degrades people. Should all porn that anyone thinks degrades people be banned?

Sounds like the right wing anti-porn forces are making progress, even inside the industry.

No, they *started* with that and then moved on to slam heavy BDSM stuff, which is generally much more obviously consensual (the girl moaning in pleasure as the needles go in, so to speak) than the slapping-spitting-forced-gagging-crying-girls stuff.

And the point is, one man's extreme is another man's mainstream. If folks in this industry don't understand that, there's no hope for us.

Nice to get a bit of a play by play for those if us not there.

The seminar was pretty interesting, although, like Forkbeard, I was pretty shocked that some of those guys were knocking extreme porn niches.

While I agree with some of what was said, it's pretty ballsy to stand up there as a speaker and knock someone else's business. At least the guy had enough good sense not to name names or point fingers.

MandyBlake 04-01-2005 10:06 PM

damn it sounds like i missed a good one.

Kevsh 04-01-2005 10:06 PM

Well the guy who protested the hardcore at least had the nerve to speak out and share his opinion. A lot of people just sit there with their lips sealed. I personally wish some of the more extreme stuff would stop as it hurts the industry as a whole... I'm talking about the stuff that pushes the edges of obscene.

Anyway, glad to hear you enjoyed - just wish there was a transcript or video available!

RawAlex 04-01-2005 10:11 PM

Like you really think the weekend surfers invading this board really care about CC processing?

They just want free pussy pictures and videos.

Alex

It definetly took balls to say what he said.

Video will be available, actually. I'm not sure of the exact link, but check out www.thephoenixforum.com
