Toronto Webmasters Where Do You Buy Your Computers?

I am looking to get a new system in January and was wondering where you recommend to go for an entire system. I previously bought parts and upgrades for my system at Razor Computers in Scarborough (kind of a mom and pop operation).

I am in Mississauga and would prefer dealing with a place closer to home but anywhere in Toronto I could live with.
Thanks Guys!

MD fucking G Brother !!!

I am on my 3rd system from them, and have recommended ½ dozen of my friends to them as well ...

They are like 1 minute from my house Bro, so one day you and I should take a tour over and talk to my buddy over there to see what kind of deal he can give you. (BTW ... They like me over there ... I keep bringing them business)

Their custom built machines KICK ASS, and they get 5 stars for tech support too !!!

I bought mine from Future Shop as well, and its the last thing I buy from them. Want to here my storey?
The closest FS is an hour away. I drive there to buy a 32" TV and stand. Store #1, the guy tells me they don't have them instore but in the warehouse it will take two days to get there. I take his card and drive to another FS 20 minutes away. Same storey, none instore he has to order one.
The next day I call store 1 and want to order one with my FS Card and I will pick it up when it comes in. No dice the guy tells me, I have to drive there, order it in person, drive home and drive back two days later and pick it up or have it shipped at a cost. I basically say fuck him and call store 2. They have me on hold for 20 minutes. The chick keeps coming on the line and asking me who I am holding for. I hang up on her after the third time.
So I call the website phone number, this chick tells me that they don't have any of those tv's in, that the guy at store 1 can't even check the warehouse so he must have been feeding me a line. She finds me one in Scarborough and one in Barrie, takes my number and was going to call me back. Never heard from the bitch.
What does a guy have to do to spend money at the fucking FS, what bullshit.
Anyways, Sears had me one at my door in two days and cheaper then what FS was charging.

Interesting storey, not really.

Anybody who is a REAL webmaster, will simply not settle for ANY preconfigured system bought from futureshop or similar places ...

You end up paying money for certain features you may never use, and you pay for the "BRAND NAME"

Mind you before I get started on my custom-build pitch, I will give Hewlett Packard KUDOS for putting together some of the BEST equipped "preconfigured" systems I have seen yet ... but I will still opt for a custom built box ANY DAY !!!

Here is the setup I got this past August from MDG :

ASUS CUV4X-C Jumperless Motherboard
Pentium III processor @ 1.0 Ghz
512 MB SDRAM (133 Mhz Bus)
40 Gig MAXTOR ATA-100 HDD @ 7200 R.P.M.
32 MB GeForce Video card
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 (MP3+ edition)
PIONEER DVD ROM
Power DVD Player
Hitachi CD-RW 16x10x32
10/100 Dlink NIC card
Altec Lansing ACS33 powered Subwoofer/2 speaker sound system
and an NEC "totally flat" 19" Monitor
Win98SE (bychoice) and Microsoft Office 2000 Premium were bundled with it as well.

I paid $2219.00 (about $1400.00 USD) and I have a 100% NON INTERGRATED system built exactly to what I wanted, and is fully expandable should I decide to further upgrade down the road ...

i bought my HP PIII, 3 years ago from future shop and it runs like a charm.
problem with the small guys is,..if you buy a puter from them.. and later down the road ,have problems with it,...you better hope that these guys dont go belly up,or elsed your fucked.
so in the long run, its better to buy from the big guys.it might be bit more pricy, but at least you know your covered with warranty.
that store south of ellesmere sold me nothing but trash.

Damn, you guys are all getting ripped off :P No offense, but I called a couple of the places reccomended since I'm in Toronto and need a new system.. and they were a lot higher prices than the place I've been to in the past.

http://www.canadacomputers.com

They kick ass. All the latest stuff, very nice prices. I got this system from them about 14 months ago, runs perfect.. but I need an upgrade for my gaming addiction. :P

Anyway, check em out if you're in TO and need a new system or part.

Pick up the Toronto Sun there are a couple of firms advertising in there, The last one we bought was trough "MDG" it kicks ass and not only that but got it for 6 months interest free ;) we also got 2 from "electrocom" they also appear in the Sun but prefer the MDGsimply bacause their service was a lot more professional when we had a slight glitch:thumbsup

RaGe 02-01-2002 10:04 PM

I got a quote for the system I wanted from Canada Computers and MDG.. Athlon XP 1800, 512mb DDR, Abit KG7 mboard, WD 60gb, Sony 52x cdrom, Asus V8200 Geforce 3 Ti500 Pure 64mb, Soundblaster Live Platinum 5.1, Altec Lansing ATP3 speakers, and a D-Link 10/100mbps network card along with a case, cpu fan and floppy drive.

$2500 plus tax from MDG.
$2012 plus tax from Canada Computers.

The MDG guy was pretty nice on the phone, got me the quote then even offered to email it to me. But $500 difference is a bit much for me. ;)
