Im Checking my 404 stats. What does this mean

I check all my links and validate most of my pages with the HTML checker. I have little 404's but the ones i do are people looking for different directories.

But lately ive seen a spike in these directories

/forum/
/board/
/phpb22/
/yabb/

And etc.

Is it worth it for me to start a forum?

There was a vulnerability in many open source PHP forums. A worm was created to exploit that vulnerability. That traffic is the worm scanning your web server to see if it is vulnerable.

Have a nice day.

Worms are automated computer programs, viruses that are able to spread autonomously without someone needing to load a web site or open an email. I don't think you'll get many of them registering for your board. :winkwink:

The majority of 404s I get are hits on cgi-bin passwd files - of course, I have none there but I get a LOT every day... damn hackers, I don't even have a members or protected area on my site.
