[press release]
Panasonic
AG-HVX200 DVCPRO HD P2 Camcorder

Unveiling at NAB 2005, the AG-HVX200 is the professional video industry's most anticipated technology breakthrough. This revolutionary, hand-held P2 camcorder provides 1080i and 720p recording with the production proven image quality of 100 Mbps DVCPRO HD. The AG-HVX200 records on a P2 card in 1080 in 60i, 30p and 24p; in720 in 60p, 30p and 24p; in 480 in 60i, 30p, and 24p either in DVCPRO50 and DVCPRO.
-----------------------------------------------------

1080 30p and 24p or 720 60p for Under $10K !!! Say goodbye to shitty interlaced video. Also looks like the HDV format is going to be placed into the shitpile where it belongs.

The only issue is that you have to use AVID or FCHD to edit.

Thats fucking bad man, but I'm not gonna fork out for an avid editing suite...

Greg Jacobson 03-31-2005 11:37 AM

This AVID software is less than $2k and does the job.

Nothing really beats avid if your editing your own material. Of course if its rips then anything else will do.

shuki 03-31-2005 01:16 PM

It will be out later this year. (6 months?)

Yes, these specs beat the JVC and the Sony. Both the JVC and the Sony are HDV (mpeg2) with mpeg1 audio. I have 2 of the Sony cams and they are good but will be getting one of these Pannys regardless of the price. The Panny is DVCPROHD (not HDV) which is a hell of a lot less compression and the audio is uncompressed as opposed the the insult of having your audio squished down to MPEG1 before you can even edit it. (HDV)
