well the first thing you need is a fast internet connection. I suggest broadband from cable :winkwink:

Come to South Africa, white sharks tend to improve the surfes' speed ;)

axelcat 03-31-2005 11:10 AM

Ive surfed once and it is hard

KMR Stitch 03-31-2005 11:22 AM

Sooo easy ;-)

If you have money get a Stwert 9'6 Long Board Squash Tail. Around 700-850.00 For a nice new one.

Florida waves kinda suck it's a lot of Slop and white water

spideriux 03-31-2005 11:28 AM

quick poll - how many of you actually thought he was talking about surfing, as in on a board in the ocean?

I would watch some surfing at the beach or on TV and decide which style appeals to you the most. Then, you might rent a board (short or long) and get some instruction. Trying it without instruction could get you hurt, and make you not continue something that can give you a lot of joy.

I love to longboard, and it is a wonderful, healthy sport.

Best of luck!

I think you will have a great time! I envy you. Trying it for the first time is exciting, and when you get the hang of it, it can be a real spiritual exerience. :)
