Evidence Eliminator

LOL, these guys are desperate - I just got this:

Dear Valued EE Associate

Two tips: Click-counting scams, and how to receive US$ checks for
non-USA countries including Europe and Asia/Pacific.

Beware "Click-shaving" scams
================================================

We have discovered that certain companies who market EE-clone
"eraser-washer" type programs are using a click-counting system which
loses or hides approximately 95% of your traffic on their stats.

Some Webmasters have reported this to me and say they feel conned that
their traffic has been "stolen" as they see it by those programs.

We have investigated one scheme for Webmasters that is generating lots
of complaints, and we found out some interesting facts about how it works.

I am sending you this information because you may find it very useful
to show other Webmasters how their traffic is being "lost". Actually
EE gives them a much better deal, you just have to show them how their
existing sponsor is manipulating their stats.

The system involves simply not counting your click-throughs. It's
crude, however, many Webmasters seem misled by it.

Let us say a Webmaster installs two adverts. One advert for the
genuine "EE" and one for another program, shall we say "Program X".

After one week the Webmaster checks his/her stats.

(These are only examples to show you the math)

Let's suppose

1,000 clicks went to EE and sold 5 copies.

50 clicks went to "program X" and sold 4 copies.

conversion rate for EE (1000 / 5) = 1:200
conversion rate for "program X" (50 / 5) = 1:10

By those stats, "program X" converts 20 times better than EE. The
Webmaster sent 1000 surfers to sell 5 EE, but only sent 50 surfers to
sell 4 on "program X".

The Webmaster therefore decides that "Program X" is giving him a
better deal for his traffic.

Yet this is untrue. "Program X" is using a system called "second-page
click stats" to trash 95% of the Webmasters stats.

95% of people clicking on an ad, won't go past the first page of the
site they are visiting. This is quite normal at most sites. At EE, we
count EVERY CLICK you send to the FIRST PAGE. Our traffic stats at http://www.evidence-eliminator.com/a...atistics.shtml show
these raw clicks-throughs.

"Program X" places their hit counter on the SECOND PAGE of their site!
Only 5% of the surfers continue on to hit the second page - only 5%
get counted.

"Program X" can lose 20 times the traffic of EE, without the Webmaster
being warned.

As most Webmasters do not route their clicks through a counter .cgi
before sending them to sponsors, they are none the wiser.

This is just one specific method in use today, which Webmasters are
reporting to us as being devious. It seems the unscrupulous need to
"cook the figures" to make their cheap "EE-clones" seem worth it. This
is very good news for the genuine EE program. If you know of any
Webmasters using such systems please pass on this information - it is
a very strong recruiting reason for people to switch programs. I will
put a notice on our click-stats page about this today.

Easy way to receive US$ Checks
================================================
Many Associates outside of USA have trouble receiving money or it
costs much to bank US$ checks. Therefore here is a tip for receiving
US$ payments outside the USA
http://www.citibank.com/

Top right of page, a drop down menu prompts: "Select A Country"
Select your country and see if you can get a "US$ Current Account".

In the UK (www.citibank.co.uk) we can get a twin account with a US$
check book and a UK currency check book.

This system enables people to receive US$ checks fairly cheaply. Money
can be moved between the two accounts to convert it.

Aussie Rebel 12-29-2001 03:00 PM

I got the same email too

Rivux 12-29-2001 09:34 PM

I happen to agree with them. Its bullshit counting 2nd page clicks on a per sale program. I emailed AP about this a few months back and their response was, "Well everyone else does it".

In the end, as long as their are counting my sales right, I dont give a shit. But it doesnt make sense to only count 2nd page clicks.
