Isn't souvlaki skewered lamb, beef, pork, or chicken that is grilled
over an open fire and served on pita bread?

justsexxx 03-30-2005 02:37 PM

Yes I kinda like it.

LadyMischief 03-30-2005 02:38 PM

Yes, it's a greek meat shishkabob with either chicken or pork.. It's very yummy, usually made on the grill.. Served best with a pita and tzaziki sauce.

LadyMischief 03-30-2005 02:39 PM

Oh yeah and lamb too doh.

how can someone not know what this is? lol

CDSmith 03-30-2005 03:15 PM

Here in Winnipeg, all the Greek restaurants (and there are many) serve Souvlaki as a kebab. The sandwich, which from my experience is a pita bread stuffed with meat and fixins, is called a "Gyro" (pronounced "yee-rroe").

Souvlaki -- shishkebab
Gyro --- sandwich
