What to do when your traffic DIES (article)

http://kblogger.com/blog/index.php/weblog/C48/

Let me tell you the story of a webmaster named Paul (names have been changed for privacy purposes). I am sure many of us can relate to his story. When Paul first started as a webmaster, making money online was quite easy. He had specialized forms of traffic that converted well and only required a few hours? work. Paul pretty much just had to make some pages twice a week, monitor his campaigns, and count his bank deposits. Things were going great and then it happened ? the gravy train stopped.

Due to technical issues out of his control, his traffic was no longer available. And with no traffic, he made no money. He had to struggle for the next six months and tried his best to bring back everything to where it was before.

Does that story sound familiar to you? In one way or another, we may have all been victims of this unfortunate event.

Hehehe it's Paul :) Either way, it's an assumed name. Traffic crash happens to the best of us. The article explores possible solutions to this persistent problem :thumbsup

Lol, the first month as a full timer I made less than half the money I made the previous month, cause my main traffic source died.
Good read !!!

Great read. This reason is why I have diversified and spread multiple sites across multiple servers. This has happened to most people including myself. Sherm's Shack used to be huge, but some unfortunate incidents had dwindled it down into virtually nothing.

Luckilly I have many other sites, with each accounting for only a small percentage of my yearly income.

Good strategy, bro. Many small streams add up to one large river. Im also diversifying into mainstream and offline ventures. The more the merrier.

I'm going to Europe on holiday in 3 weeks, last time I was over there, the day I got back google wiped out just over 1500 of my domains, I went from 60 sales a day to 5, things had been steady as a rock for 3 years then BANG all gone. Then I wasted another year trying to save the sites. But I survived and in the past 12 months have grown again.

Lessons learned:
~ If you get banned, rebuild its the fastest way, just take your domains redirect them and build newones, anything else is a waste of time and effort.
~ Have multiple hosts, whois info
~ Mulitiple sponsors, Maxcash lead the way in showing webmasters how they could screwup even the best program, Ars tried there best as well.
~ If its not broken don't fix it!!!!!!

I can relate. Funny how these things happen when you least expect. I went on a trip to England and Italy in 2003, same thing happened. When I cam back, 95% of traffic... GONE. Took me many weeks to get back to previous levels. Now I have differing rev models and traffic streams.
