So here are samples of my first real sets with this new girl.. is the quallity of pics ok? any comments about lighting, and photography related stuff?

her solo site is comming up within 2 weeks.. is she (any my photograpyh) good enough for you to promote? we're doing outdoor sets this weekend.

i would say you need to make sure you get CLOSER to her, too much couch & wall and not enough girl

don't be afraid to take a pic that not all of her body is 100% showing

Cropping the photos closer to the model might help.

Overall though the photography and model look good there, Mayday. :thumbsup

thanks, that's what I needed to hear. I'll do better with each new set.. I'll show pic of the girl #2 in a day, when I get a chance to sort the sets.

Look great. I agree w/ the croppnig remarks.
Perhaps if you're doing the wider shots, you could pull down the A to get some more DOF, or focus some SOFT light on the actual model to bring her out more-

but definately good.

Both the girls and the photo's look good. Your getting the hang of it.
If your taking those pics that far away take some close up in the same position as well. I want to be able to read her lips both sets

Here's some suggestions:

Bring her away from the wall. Stay out of corners because this bounces too much light all over the place. You want to be in control of your lighting. Shooting in a tight space like that makes for a very MUDDY looking type of light.

Bring the light closer to your subject. I don't know where that light is, but it looks damn far away.

Use a hairlight. This is accomplished by placing a light somewhere behind the model. Could be placed behind the couch, even if you point it at the wall. It will create a very punchy, moody type of light that looks very artistic. You need to seperate your subject from the background, which you're not doing at the moment.

well, it ain't all about the photography.

technically it is good enough.

but to get surfers to actually pull out their CC's the pix must be different.

and IMO these won't do in the marketplace. and they won't do because surfers have seen these images 100,000 times already. the same couch, the same potted palm in the corner, the same poses. no, not exactly the same, but so similar that the surfer will not click on the stuff.

sorry, you most photograph a model in a different way. a way that people are not used to seeing, and throw away the technique books, and visualize in your mind, and think outside the box.

shooting a solo girl is all about fantasy and psychology, and is really trickier than shooting 2 or more models who are relating together. remember the connection is with the girl and the surfer, and the challenge is to provoke the surfer's imagination.

i could write a book on this, but no time here.

I hope she's naked in one of the pics.

hi...the girl looks nice and the lightning is okay for the internet....try to experiment a little with the light, there is so many ways when you shoot digital.
For posing, cropping and angles....check out my site, you can get a lot of ideas there.
Not that I'm bragging,and saying that I'm the best, but I have shot girls for top magazines for more than 25 years, so I must have done something right :))

RE: The hair light-
Great point.
You'll probably want to experiment with 'kicker' and 'rim' lights.

kicker: hard white light from 3/4-1/2 back
rim: hard light from about 1/4 back, to just bring out a rim effect on side of subject

if you're looking at a clockface, with the subject in the middle facing 6PM
rim: 13pm--14pm
kicker 14:30-15:30

obviously, play with these for different effects, but you'll find it'll bring the subject right back as the subject, and highlight them nicely
