TUTORIALS ON GETTING FREE PASSWORDS
What do you people think about webmasters that link to these guides on how get a free password to a paysite. I was curious by this idea, ran through it, and saw that not only do they teach them how to get a password for free, but also to cancel it at the end. In the one I've read, it went so far to say that a lot of websites dont give away the content they promise in the tour. I personally think this puts a bad cloud over our industry. Do you think TGPs should allow webmasters to do this. I have no problem with selling the free or pay trial, but to go so far as to tell them how to cancel after the period is up and say why should you pay to get into a site when many sites dont give away the content they promise..? What do you think? Good or Bad?

It's actually not as bad as you think.
It's a marketing ploy. Get them to sign up, and they will finally see what it's like to get into a paysite. Some will actually stay. Get them to sign up. Get them to get that CC out. Get them to actually buy. Did you ever see "Boiler Room" Get them to say "yes". Get them to sign up! Some will stay, some will forget to cancel, some will get rebilled for three months before they remember. Some will be glad that they signed up once they see how much more is available to them. Some will buy into upsales. They will purchase signups to other sites once they are on the inside... Some people will set up "fake" membership areas, and try to sell that way. It's just a marketing ploy... and it works. ------------------ <A HREF="http://www.soulcash.com/content.htm?sc9redshoe" TARGET=_blank>13,000 free pics and videos Join SoulCash Now! I run two Passwords sites. They are not at all unethical. You CANNOT tell the people to cancel though. That is considered cheating. It is no more or less ethical than:
"SIGN UP FOR AOL NOW - GET 1000 HOURS FREE - VERSION 7 IS THE BEST VERSION YET" Nowhere on this commercials do they say "You must cancel your membership or it will be renewed." It may READ that in the fine print. I tell people to read the terms and conditions - also - try and sign up for a free membership at: http://in.cybererotica.com/cgi-bin/c.../370/1234567/C You don't have to get very far to see what I mean. It is just a different way of marketing. Not everyone will pay for a trial. Some people would RATHER pay for a trial - as they think they are getting something. To give you an example from another part of life - I want to see an acccountant for an initial consultation. A friend suggested someone he might know that would do it for free. He seemed to think it was a good idea. However, I would rather PAY for a consultation - as (whether it is true or not) I feel like I could demand a lot ore in this initial consultation than in a free one where he or she is just trying to get my future business. Any accountant that does just one or the other - is missing out on some business. ------------------ TopBucks.com - Converting at better than 1:130 David Lace Content - Highest Quality Teen Content ConversionCash.com - Make Money off your WebTV Traffic |
