I have family situation, will not be around much

Thats whay im not around lately.

Dad had a crushed disc in his back, collapsed onto a nerve in his back which controls his legs/feet/penis/bladder/etc, pretty much everything below his waist

back surgeon said the surgery went well as far as cleaning out the spine and such, but no telling about his legs or any hope of ever walking again.

not a pretty situation, and im going through lots right now, so no time to be around here.

Anyhow i just wanted to pop in and wish my very best to you guys, i really hope business is doing well for you all! Just remember to keep learning, keep reading, and keep building!

Happy easter to you as well, so much going on a almost always forget its a holiday!

PS,
MCR id like to set something up soon, i will shoot an email with some ideas i have brewing!

he was in a pain i cannot even describe, for about 3 days before the emergency surgery.

now he has very little pain, but he cannot feel/move anything below his waist. He has not taken a shit in like 16 days and he has to manually drain his bladder every few hours with a tube ... not pretty. They dont want to put him on bags because they dont want to have to retrain his bladder, said the nurse.

he is very large man, 6'6 and over 350lbs so it is not easy to move him around, thats why i stay there a lot so i can help them manage him. they have this sort of crain thing to move him, but he doesnt like it and it hurts him.

The crane is called a hoyer lift. They suck.

Good luck to you and your dad. Try to keep him occupied.

lil2rich4u2 03-27-2005 09:28 PM

the first day the disc popped i called 911 and the ambulance took him to the local hospital who shot him with demorol (which didnt really ehlp) and sent him home.

the second day it was 10x worste and then he couldnt move his legs, so i called 911 and they said they had no choice and had to take him back to same hospital.

They needed to get an MRI of his back before surgery but they could not get him to lay flat on his back due to pain, so they kept pumping him with drugs, TONS of drugs and they didnt work at all! the nurse said a moose would have fallen over by now, i think its because he was so big.

eventually they called in a surgeon who said he needs emergency surgery and they gave him the gas.

I would like to call a lawyer about them just sending him home, because that could have done damage maybe, but it definately wasnt right! But who has time for that shit? you know?

Sorry to hear that about your dad?

lil2rich4u2 05-21-2005 12:20 PM

Anyone like an update?

since my original post, he has made crazy progress! but still not walking :(

they have him on paralel bars taking steps while they hold his knee's locked, he cant seem to do that himself yet.

he can now stand using paralel bars for about 8 minutes before his leggs cannot hold it anymore, doesnt sound like much but i nearly cried when i saw it!

starting to get feeling back in bladder, but no control to push anything out. he has to be cathed and he wears a diaper :(

Overall it has been so stressful for everyone involved, going to see him, make sure his treatment is right, handling bills.

the latest from the doctor is that he WILL walk, either with a walker or crutches. and it may be 6mo to a yaear from now before he is able to go home.

but just lately the progress has really stepped up, i think the nerve is regenerating better now.

thanks everyone.

Mr.Fiction 05-21-2005 12:22 PM

You should absolutely call a lawyer...it sounds as if they weren't thorough enough the first time.
