Anyone here got a swiss bank account?

I have been thinking of getting one. Credit Suisse is one of the biggest banks so i might get an account there.
Do you have any advise?

Swiss accounts aren't what they used to be.

Look into other jurisdictions as well.

What Mike said,, the swiss bank thing is a myth by today's standards.

For any non-US citizen looking to go that route... Panama looks pretty good.

Then there are some Caribbean places of course, I'd strongly recommend reading up on each
country's banking-policies though..
Some of them are "bending over" to the international community's requests for strengthening of
anti money laundering policies etc. ...

For all of us in Europe (tjenare :) ), it's NOT slick to have an account in another country WITHIN Europe...
The regulations are being tightened in EU as well, putting pressure on Switzerland to "bend over".

But of course, if You're not gonna make a secret out of it, You might as well choose say.. Finland.

Swiss account requires $1,000,000 starting balance, no?

If I did, I wouldn't tell.

Wrong.

Just imagine that for two minutes, that everyone working a McJob in Zurich would need a million to open an account. Not going to happen.

It is true that the minimum deposit amount is higher for numbered accounts. But $1,000,000 isn't it. It's really more in the neighborhood $10,000. Many outfits advertise no minimum deposit for regular accounts.
