Why are you here?

I get the feeling there are a lot of you here lately. As in, a lot, and I can't figure out why someone who isn't in the industry in some way would want to spend their time here.

It's getting harder and harder to find threads by known webmasters these days.

IMO there might be a few surfers here, but the others are ppl who are trying to be webmasters, but can't really figure out how to make more than $100 per month and they have still the attitude that typical surfers have.

Or some of us have really small sites that can really only offer link exchanges so dont feel the need to have some big sig or advertise which sites we run?

What about those who are both?

I come here as a surfer, first and formost, because the shit posted on here is amusing and some of the people are fun to interact with.

I come here as an adult webmaster working for a publicly traded company to see what people are doing and to try and get the glimpse of where the next huge trend is.

Non-issue. If you own an adult website or offer some sort of service to adult webmasters like design or erotic writing or whatever then you aren't the focus here.

I'm talking about all those who have no connection to porn other than that they like to look at it. The kiddies who mouth off here daily, the posers and twits who constantly post about such notworthy issues as how they banged their sister's best friend or describing the ginormous dump they just took.

You know... surfers.

Wouldn't it be good if you actually had to show proof that you are a webmaster, model, designer, photographer etc before being allowed to post?

Too late now I suppose, GFY is way too huge to police I'm sure. But the smaller boards out there may want to keep tabs on their "surfer-only" membership levels.

I totally agree. What's even more amusing to me as some people who post here a ton never, even with the slightest hint, actually let be known what they do in adult are how they are affiliated with adult.

Granted it's sometimes a necessity to keep business secrets a secret. However it's another to front as having adult affiliations but never even to remotely satisfy even the most vague explanation of what those affiliations are - those, in my opinion, are both scared and a fraud (surfer). I see this a lot and it's a shame.

I know for a FACT there are surfers here. They are here for the free pics, videos, and other entertainment. GFY is busy and funny... you can see why they'd want to stick around. If there were more serious, boring topics, they would move along.

Then there's the surfers dazzled by this lifestyle and believing they too can become rich and want to get into it, because "it's soooo easy" according to some threads.
