Terri Schiavo's husband wants her to die so he can inherit 1.2 million

Unreal

This guy can divorce her when ever he wants b/c he is her legal guardian.

If he divorces her, then he does not inherit her 1.2 million dollar trust when she dies.

So, he kills her now and gets the cash.

What a piece of shit :321GFY

Tala 03-25-2005 05:49 PM

That makes no sense. He's been offered millions before to divorce her and turned it down each time. Why wait?

Fake Nick 03-25-2005 05:50 PM

indeed, that makes no sense

this thing went to tooooo many courts for anyone to believe this case was not dealt with the right way

Lester 03-25-2005 05:54 PM

There was a settlement of 1.3 million from malpractice about 13 years ago or so.....

---------------------------
From USA Today.......

Today, the money from the lawsuit settlement is almost gone, Grieco, the attorney, says. Just $40,000 to $50,000 remained as of mid-March. The $700,000 in Terri's trust has paid for her care, lawyers, expert medical witnesses. Michael Schiavo's $300,000 share evaporated years ago, he says.
----------------------------

People think he's doing this for the money, he's not

Meanwhile, a Southern California businessman offered to pay $1 million to the woman's husband if he transfers the legal right to decide her medical treatment to her parents, who are fighting to keep her alive. -- http://www.thepriceofliberty.org/05/...commentary.htm

I know there's more but I'm too tired to look it all up right now.

Fred Quimby 03-25-2005 06:07 PM

End of discussion, I'm taking Mr Edison's advice and getting a Cold Corona!

Amazing how much shit has gone into this when she doesn't even know what's going on

swedguy 03-25-2005 07:40 PM

Isn't he her husband? So why the heck should he get divorced? I sure as hell wouldn't.

There's more to this life than what we can see and believe :)

TheSaint 03-25-2005 09:03 PM

Yep its a total lie, the million has been gone for years. Most of the shit you hear on Fox TV (like Terry can talk) is bullshit, 90% of her brain is liquid.

The husband is just doing right for someone he loved, the christian right thinks god will deliver a miracle and return her brain cells; aint going to happen.

this is ingenious- I mean, with so much popular support to transfer gaurdianship to her parents and the scope of this case's attention - think of the return this businessman will get for a measly $1 million.

If he divorces her, her parents become her legal guardians, and could thus decide to "retract" the verbal living will Michael says she gave.

Indeed, $10 million was offered to him just a few weeks ago and he turned it down... some info here

'Dems the facts.

Kevsh 03-25-2005 11:00 PM

Oh Merciful Lord on this Good Friday, make the Terri Shiavo threads, news, interviews, arguments, protests, lawsuits, court battles, analysis and the woman herself rest in peace.

Thank you.

Rochard 03-25-2005 11:04 PM

Seems to me like the husband kept her alive as long as there was money from the settlement. Thirteen years later the money has run out, and he knows he won't be able to pay to keep her alive.

I think the proper thing to do would be to divorce her and let the parents take over for her well being.

He has been offered MORE money to divorce her and let her live.

ITS OBVIOUSLY NOT ABOUT THE MONEY !!!

Icon 03-26-2005 01:34 AM

It's not always about the money.

Some people serve in the armed forces for reasons other than the great pay.

He kept her alive until a point where he and his doctors determined that there was no hope of recovery. That was about 10 years ago and she is no better off now than she was then.

Kassidy 03-26-2005 02:32 AM

The money has been gone for a LONG time...not sure if you geniuses are aware how much 24/7 medical care costs in the US...

The EASY way out for him would be to divorce her, marry his long term gf and let her be someone else's problem. His last and TRUE act of love has been to fight for what he believes she would have wanted.

This is a private matter and the Bush family needs to mind it's own beeswax. Right or wrong, it's none of their business.

Kevsh 03-26-2005 02:54 AM

Someone please wake me up when this thing is over, for good. I heard her father and mother shamelessly call upon Gov. Bush to intervene.

I can't remember the last time I've seen two adults (ok, three including sis) so stubbornly misuse the system, waste tax payer's money and put the needs of their daughter so arrogantly above all else. They've asked (and in many cases, demanded) just about everyone except Jesus himself to jump in and help out.

Talk about self-absorbed. There are thousands of people in this country who deserve 1/100th of the attention Terri has but will never hope to get it. What makes your daughter so special? You've appealed to every court in the land, wasted hundreds of hours of court time, government, police time (to guard the hospice), air time and who knows what else for a cause you cannot - and should not - win.

Get off your high horse, stop pleading for everyone in the country to run to your aid. You and your daughter have gotten more help, more hearings and more appeals than any one person should ever get. The court system has told you "no" 30+ times. You lost. Get over it. Let it go.

Now i'm off to sleep ... :Oh crap

Drake 03-26-2005 03:12 AM

I don't know much about this case but my understanding is that she's now basically starving to death. Something seems very wrong with that. Starving a person to death. Could they not give her an injection of some sort?

Let it be known that if I was in a vegetative state, I would NOT want to be alive. Or even if my mind was functioning but I had no control over my body, I'd want to be put to death ASAP. But not starved.

spongemonkey 03-26-2005 03:49 AM

Not surprisingly, Dave Stodghill is trying to make a buck from the drama, and bringing in people from the Jessica Lunsford realm to help him out...

Details at my blog...

bd, is she's heavily drugged up? Just wouldn't want her to be feeling the starvation. If she is drugged up, I suppose that's fine.

My understanding is that their is a lot of heresay and false accusations being made about the husband. She has been on life support for some 15 years and he did try all that he could to bring her back. If this is true, I think the most noble thing to do is to allow her to die in peace. Any reasonable person would NOT want to be alive in her state. Being alive and living are two different things. Living is enjoying life and you can't do that while you're alive without control of your body.

I also think it's reasonable to say that if a person hasn't returned to their normal functioning after 15 hard years of trying, it's not going to happen, and to stop further suffering, letting the person die in peace is the best choice.

The sad fact is, that would be the most humane method for thousands of people who would prefer to choose to end their suffering every year, but it's illegal in your country.

Although, in Terry Schaivo's case she's in a completely incognisant vegetative state. It's not the painful, cruel way for a person in her condition to die; nothing like all the rightwing Christian wackos are describing in the media this week. That's shameless propaganda used to garner support for their cause. THOSE are the true opportunists in this case, not her husband.

DaLord 03-26-2005 06:23 AM

No matter what, it's a bit too cruel for me to watch her die slowly on CNN.

Ask yourself this, have you ever met anyone that has stated that they would want to be left on life support like she is?

Because of the condition of her brain she feels no pain, but I would be willing to bet that they give her morphine anyway.

What I can't believe is that any adult feels that their parents know then better than their husband/wife. I can't even imagine being married to a woman whose parents were such control freaks.
