What recourse do you have in this situation? Not only is it unsafe if you have childeren but it brings down your property value. The problem with the Megans Law List is it doesn't specify between Violent Sex Offenders and the Drunk Frat Guy who got caught at Lake Havasu or Mardi gra. What to do?

if you goto the sex offender search website you can see what the charges were...

We have a ton according to our local online map. Scary part is many are in cluster regions of the city.

check out your local county/city website.. they normally have a link to your local registered sex offenders in your zip code... those you don't need to worry about as much as those who don't register... like the whacko in Florida...

If they lived close by, I'd probably move. Especially if I had children. These people don't stop. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean that an unknown and/or unregistered offender won't be somewhere else. :Oh crap

I would highly advise then to never look at any sex offender maps of your area. I made that mistake.

You do nothing. I sat on court one day, and saw a guy convicted of a sex crime, when the state admited that they had no evidence, except the writen statment of a juvenile that the cops said was drunk, and yelling at the man, because he refused to buy her beer. And saying that he toucher her tits. The guy got 90 days in, 1 year probation, and listed as a sexual offender.


That is fucked up, and happens all the time.

In Chicago we can see who's a "Registered Sex Offender" in each District.

Your next door neighbor is probably a child molester - whether a convicted one or not. By far, most have not been convicted.

Sure, keep an eye on the known convicted offenders - but it's the rest, who are larger in numbers, that are probably more of a concern.

Check out some stats on keyword use in engines relating to child material - this is a sad reflection of society, - but more likely a real scenario.

Check with the local Police Department or their webpage
They keep that registry usually for public viewing one way or another.
Some put it online, some don't.

check the meganslaw website my friend checked he found there was 12 registered sex offenders living within 2 miles of him and he has 2 kids.

i looked up the online database and we have one here nearby.

odd thing is before we moved in, being gated community, the master board required us to give them a character report from the sheriff's office.

There are three in my area; One on the next street. We've posted pictures of them on our fridge and watch for them. Our doors stay locked at all times, I have a loud dog who barks at anything in the yard, and we have an alarm system. And we never let our child out of sight.

And we pray that's enough.

Hire 2 big mean ghetto ass black dudes hard up for money to go into his house and ass rape him repeatedly, film it, and mail the tapes to his family.

That way he could feel a little of the humiliation he caused the kids he molested.

I probably wouldn't care less -- no kids. Now give me a web-based registry of car theives or people convicted of armed robbery... that might actually be useful.

We had a little fun with the last sex offender that moved in, and then recently moved out, one of the neighbor ladies opened a day care center in their house and that was enough to force the guy to move out since he couldn't live within a radius of where children were.
