What would you do in my position?
 

I have a gay twink site - www.britishtwinks.com - that is full of original content. It converts well (typically around 1:80) and the members seem to really like the look/feel of the site. It's amateurish but personal - not like the big sites. I get loads of good feedback, and members renew and renew. I still have some members that joined five years ago! Typically, they stay about six months, which I think is much better than the industry average.

The problem is I don't have enough traffic! I launched a ccbill affiliate program but I'm hardly getting any affiliates because nobody knows about it. I tried listing in the resource sites but that hasn't really helped. I can't afford banners on there (or here) or anything like that.

I tried google adwords but that didn't work out - most surfers didn't even wait for the first graphic to load, so I suspect they were bots. :(

I've bought gallery traffic and it converted great, but nobody has much to sell in the gay niche. I still don't have enough traffic to trade with the big programs, so getting promoted on exits is like getting blood out of a stone.

I really believe in my site and I know it will do well if I can get some traffic to it. But how? It's such a competitive industry and I don't have much money to invest.

What would you do in my position? Anyone in a helpful mood?

Email the gay TGPs and MGPs. Give them material to promote your site. They'll want banners, hosted galleries, movie clips, HPAs, and anything "extra" you can provide.

Start submitting galleries to TGPs and MGPs. There are tons of gay specific ones, plus many general sites will accept gay galleries as well.

Create other traffic generation sites. Top lists, link lists, your own TGPs, free sites, etc.

Just try posting on gfy and spam your site!

But really, do what Sly said.

Since most of today's webmasters are fake tgp owners, build or have a bunch of freehosted galleries built. Provide descriptions, (preferably in varying lengths), and make them easy to import. Then spam the boards.

I personally don't have a ton of gay traffic, but like most people, some... and pretty much only have the generic big boys' sites listed, so something fresh would be nice, but not neccesarily something everyone will want to put a lot of work into.

So if you truly have something unique, make it easy for people to promote you and they probably will.

A couple of program owners have asked me about selling the site or running it through their program. That's a possibility, but it's a last resort really - I'd like to make things work myself ideally.
