Don't make the same mistake i did regarding domain registrar

i used 1and1.com

i have over 30 domains with them.... and now i do a little backround info because it came to my attention that domains easily get shut down when someone "accuses" you of spamming and some registrars just jump the gun and shut down an account without even really looking into it... 1and1.com seems to be one of those companies...

now i am going to have to spend 9 dollars for each of my domains to transfer them to namecheap.com

thought the 6 dollar registration is what lured me into using 1and1.com i should have done more research..

so spend a few extra dollars and go with a registrar that you know wont fuck you over.... an enom reseller :)

namecheap.com :thumbsup

jimboc 03-25-2005 02:27 AM

im in the uk, i use 123reg.co.uk, you can point anywhere so if your host suddenly ups the bill you can move so easily..

AaronM 03-25-2005 02:30 AM

Namecheap sucks. :2 cents:

Just my opinion..WTF do I know anyway? :disgust

sonofsam 03-25-2005 02:30 AM

i'm not talkin about webhosts.... and every registrar lets you point to different hosts.... well... if they plan on being in business anyways..

i'm talking about the registrar itself.. the person you use to register the domain....

Steen2 03-25-2005 02:31 AM

namecheap = enom = spam haters :)

Steen2 03-25-2005 02:31 AM

btw, 1and1 is known for poor domains.

Idiots go where ever is cheapest and they end up paying more, lol.

thewebgarage 03-25-2005 02:31 AM

dotster gave me $6 transfers. you might want to ask them if they want your business.

which registrar do you use? i was going to use namecheap because i did a search and didn't find 1 negative comment.. everyone speaks really highly of them... and some pretty high profile domains are with them

Oddly enough...I've been using enom directly for about 5 years and have NEVER had ANY problems with them.

Of course...I don't use spammers......I only deal with mailers. Spam is not exactly legal these days.

sonofsam 03-25-2005 02:35 AM

aaron how come u say namecheap sucks? arn't they practically the same as your registrar since they are a reseller?

edit: actually i retract the comment about being the same ... since anyone can be a reseller.... but how come u say they suck?

jimboc 03-25-2005 02:36 AM

UMM 123-reg.co.uk are the cheapest in the uk, they r good for .com too

Ask yourself this question:

"Why would I buy something from person B instead of buying it directly from person A?"

xclusive 03-25-2005 02:39 AM

I use enom and have a few at godaddy that I am going to transfer soon

jimboc 03-25-2005 02:40 AM

I dont know person A or person B :(

I have, and I'm not the first.

sonofsam 03-25-2005 02:47 AM

enom charges 30 bucks a domain/year?

ICQ me, reseller accounts can be obtained from eNom partners.

If you want one, lmk.

Ron Bennett 03-25-2005 04:11 AM

Heard MANY problems with NameCheap and GoDaddy ... and enom too, though more of such problems seem to be some of enom's resellers.

Moniker may be a good choice, especially since Monte is active on here and at DNForum.

Namecheap will also shut down your domain for spam. Do a search on gfy.

Cains 03-25-2005 06:47 AM

i go with enom, given their poor customer service and general response times, they're unlikely to get off their ass if you apparently spam

you buy your bandwidth directly from interNAP and install your servers at home?

Manga1 03-25-2005 07:34 AM

Use Moniker for your domains and avoid any problems.

BlueQuartz 03-25-2005 10:23 AM

www.domainnamesystems.com - been buying domains there for years :)

Babagirls 03-25-2005 10:39 AM

i like RegisterFly.com personally

ezrydn 03-25-2005 10:41 AM

I've had several domains registered with GoDaddy for what seems to be years and have never had the slightest problem with them.

Good point. Nothing wrong about buying from a reseller as long as the product and/or service is good.

Many people in the adult biz who had their PayPal accounts suspended had been with PayPal for years with no problems...

Just because there have been no problems yet, doesn't mean problems won't happen ... if you have important adult related domains with GoDaddy, beware!

Sly 03-25-2005 12:53 PM

What's the deal with GoDaddy? I have about 300 domains there and a friend has over 1,000.

PokerCams 03-25-2005 01:02 PM

have a couple of thousand domains with godaddy - never had a problem - top notch 24/7 service - in fact my own 24/7 cell phone connection with a personal rep - I dont know any others that would provide that

teksonline 03-25-2005 01:08 PM

if you want a real enom account with low prices, signup for either a retail account or a reseller account at http://www.domainpendor.com
then you can use enom directly, difference in reseller account is that you have to pay in minimum $100.00 payments. its a $8.95 account

I registered domains recently at 10-domains parava , and when I looked at the whois on them, it had a 1and1 name server. I have never used 1and1 , it just appeared as my DNS

weird, I reported the problem, they said it's not their error.

Looking to move 100+ domains to a nice place... what do you know about fabulous?

~Ray
