Artist Smuggles Own Art Into Famous Museums (Art)

Apparently his artwork hung at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York for days before it was discovered. He was susccesful in installing his art in several other museums as well.

Banksy has been doing this and similar activites for years in Britain, so I'm not so sure that he clipped the idea from Tom Green. Could be the other way around, or they both came up with the idea independently.

Funny nonetheless - BTW, Tom Green will be on Leno tonight.

If only as a publicity stunt it's worth a bundle. Look at all the major press this unknown artist is getting. Smart guy. Now, did they arrest him for breaking, entering and hanging?

Actually, Banksy is pretty well-known in the UK already. His canvases fetch £10,000 and up over there.

They couldn't get him for breaking and entering in the U.S. museum stunts since he walked in off the street and hung the paintings while the galleries were open.

I haven't heard of any charges being brought by the NYC galleries. I understand that Banksy does however have warrants out for his arrest in England related to some of his graffitti projects.

Quite a character...
