Telemarketing COmpany RAIDED and All Employees Arrested!!!
With the recent crackdown on spammers, why haven't the telemarketing companies been addressed. I have never used my home phone line since it was connected 3 months ago. I plugged it in today and have recieved 5 calls from telemarketing spammers. I have not given out my number or used my number to register anything. VERY FUCKING IRRITATING

very good point.
Same applies for the PO and junk mail and coupons etc. |
actually, telemarketing agencies get raided and employees get arrested all the time.
you're American, right? put your number on the National Do Not Call Registry. simple as that. |
Call list is a joke - :2 cents:

Some do , some dont, some are very smart. I think they get the stupid ones, but i know of a few responsible for thefts of hundreds of millions of dollars. The owners are still making money still living in the same houses. Its like they are untouchable. The attorney generals just arent equipped with fast enough action to do anything. These scammers have worked out a method of moving so fast under so many names , when you catch them , they are always 20 steps ahead and lose almost nothing in the process. Tunr on icq ill send you a funny/sad link on one. |
I've been receiving calls from an automated machine lately, inviting me to call a premium rate ($ per minute) number to enter a lottery. My fax machine is in the same number range and received a non connecting call within a few hours of my voice line, so they're probably just calling every number in sequence. Both of my numbers are silent/unlisted.
The strange thing is that in AU local calls are not free, so for every connected call they would have been charged a fee (consumers pay an untimed call rate, but for them it may have been cheaper to pay per minute). I wouldn't have thought the response rate would be high enough to recoup those call costs, give out a prize - if they actually do - and still turn a profit. A $3.50/min premium rate number may only return $1/min net. |
Our phone company recently made some changes to our phone including dropping our message service, so I had it dicconnected. We've lived since then without a home phone. No more marketing calls for me.

For the same reason nothing will happen to the people that are filling your mail box with mail that you dont want, and did not ask for.
By the way Project. When will you be in Mexico?? Hit me on ICQ, I am here. |

Phone calls are far more intrusive IMHO. |

I am not aware of AU practices however. |

That's why VoIP-VoIP is usually free (there's no "cost" involved apart from a few packets of data to set up the call), but calls from VoIP to a standard phone are not since they have to travel through the switched circuits of a telco. |
