Can tmobile send you to collections?

my phone gets messed up where it sends all my calls to voicemail once a week, i call and they fix it somehow and then it happens again with a week. i want to cancel my service because i dont want to have to keep calling them and fixing it. i told them cancel my service and they told me they would have to charge me $200 cancelation fee outside of a contract. is there a way around this? i talked to like 2 different managers and they wouldnt do anything.

I'm sure they could and will. Your best bet is probably to cancel the contract by paying the fee.

Answer your ICQ!

Why couldn't they, you're screwed. Best thing would be just to suck it up till the end of the contract unless you want to pay the early termination fee.

Anyone company can send you to collections if you have outstanding debt with them. And a company like TMobile certainly would.

do you have to have an actual company though?

if i don't have a company, can i really send my buddy to collections for the $100 he owes me?

Ask to speak to a senior manager and explain your problem ,and l think they will give you some free service or compensation if done correct.

then just sit it out untill your contract expires...its all about communicating in the proper way. :thumbsup

sned me 1 sale and you can pay that fee ;)

MikeVega 03-24-2005 11:50 AM

same thing happen to me ...i had two phones i didn't use ..i called and asked to cancel them ..i asked if i was past my contract ..they told me it ends in a month ...and to call back ..i did and they still charged me the $200 and continued to bill me for 2 more months after i canceled ... i told them i wouldn't pay it and they sent me to collections ..after telling the collection company I'm not paying it for 2 months i just got a letter saying that it will be going on my credit report if not paid by the end of the month .....So yes they can ...and will

sweetcuties 03-24-2005 11:52 AM

that sucks... just pay the fee. you don't want that bs on your credit report. look at it this way, it's a write off

Misty Kristy 03-24-2005 11:54 AM

Well you could argue that they're in breach of their contact. They're providing you with service that you're paying for, well if they're not living up to their end of the deal, then they're in breach as well. However, you should contact an attorney if you want to pursue this, then again that could cost you more than the initial payment of $200.

Find out if there's an industry ombudsman that covers your area. I don't know if the USA uses the ombudsman term, but it's like a govt dept (probably outsourced and run as a commercialish operation these days) that has legislative power over its member companies in order to protect consumers.

yeah, forget getting out of a tmobile contract, i tried for weeks and didn't ever get it resolved. they charged me 375$ to get out of my contract though... consider yerself lucky to only have to shell out 200

T Mobile is ruthless with collections. Be careful with your credit.

There are companies you can contract through (or even sell the debt to) who will do this for you.

having any cell phone company mark your credit is like the kiss of death.
