Popeye's Chicken.

Yes, I know it's been mentioned before.

But that's what I'm having for lunch today, even though there's not one near here lol.

lol you guys are a trip.

Greg Jacobson 03-23-2005 01:01 PM

A good way to know you have taken a wrong turn is when you see a Popeye's restaurant. If you ignore that warning and keep driving you will eventually see a Church's Chicken and by that time you might be fucked. :1orglaugh

fl_prn_str 03-23-2005 01:03 PM

Luv that chicken from Popeye's :thumbsup

Greg Jacobson 03-23-2005 01:10 PM

If you are in LA try some real "down home cooking" http://www.auntkizzys.com

( they try to keep this a secret from the white people but we still find it)

Sly 03-23-2005 01:11 PM

I like KFC myself. They have good chicken pot pies. Boston Market has the best pot pies though, they come with cornbread, too.

About 20 years ago I was the night cleaning guy for a Popeye's Fried chicken here in Toronto. All the Chicken and Biscuits I could eat every night.

tre sandman 03-23-2005 01:11 PM

i prefer their spinach

LeeNoga 03-23-2005 01:14 PM

We have a popeyes like 2 miles from me and I have not had any in years.

I am so stuck on Taco Bell right now, those gordita crunches with steak and extra cheese.....Argh.

mindoza 03-23-2005 01:17 PM

Oh stop the torture!!!

Ive been on a diet since the end of September..I have been dreaming of popeyes or church's chicken for about 6 weeks now.

I told my trainer last night I was driving there afterwards to cheat...He added 20 minutes to my routine and kicked my ass..I was so tired I went straight home and never ate it.

I think I know what Im eating after the trainers tonight, Im just not going to mention it to him!

Shit, that is right around the corner from me, literally.

But I've got this craving for some Popeye's Chicken! Of course on the way to Fox Hills I'm going to have to stop at the Chevron to put some air in one of my tires and probably grab a pack of Salems.

Sparks 03-23-2005 01:24 PM

Mmm Popeyes is gooooood stuff!

JUSTB 03-23-2005 01:29 PM

The first time I had Popeyes was before it was a big chain. We were with my Dad in New Orleans while he was at a trade show. I was about 5 and it burned the hell out of my mouth. It was way hotter back then!!! I was scared of it for years after that lol. I think there's one somewhere here in town but I haven't had it in a long time. There is a Church's not too far away but I can't eat chicken that's little pieces. Makes me think I'm eating a pigeon or something!

I'll be using some Mentadent to freshen up my breath and clean my teeth, just as soon as I get through scarfing down this spicy chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, and biscuit here in front of me.

ArkansasDave 03-23-2005 02:42 PM

Havent had Popeys forever, but i remember it to be tasty!
Hmm, not sure if we still have them in SD...

BVF 03-23-2005 02:52 PM

Marcus Aurelius 03-23-2005 02:52 PM

Hey now, every corner near the beach here has a Korean owned market, without them we'd be up shit creek and have to drive to get coffee in the morning.

I wonder how long it would take white people to be outraged if popeyes all of a sudden added watermelon and cool aid to their menu.

Damn if that ain't the truth! I got hooked when I lived in New Orleans! I don't have it much here, since there's not one close by, but sometimes you just gotta give in and make the hike over there to get it ;)

There's one on College and El Cajon. I think there's one in El Cajon as well, I'm sure there's more.

The lady smokes Neopolitan brand cigs. Very hard to find, trust me. :thumbsup

There are only a handful of Popeye's in Oklahoma. One of them is less than a mile from my house. I might have to give it a try sometime. Last time I had Popeye's was years ago and it was really bad.

canplayer 03-23-2005 03:23 PM

we don't have popeyes or church's here. I've driven by them in the US and thought they might be poverty like KFC. But now I have a craving for fried chicken....

Peaches 03-23-2005 04:24 PM

I LOVE Popeyes! Closest one is Windy Hill and 75 - about a 120 mile round trip drive. And yes, I have been known to drive just for the chicken :)

detoxed 03-23-2005 04:26 PM

$5 submissions 03-23-2005 04:27 PM

Popeyes food is good. I eat it about once a month.

Pornwolf 03-23-2005 04:53 PM

I like the biscuts! Hot golden brown and buttery biscuts with honey or jam does it for me everytime. I've been known to just order a half dozen of them and no chicken.
