American Idol - Last Nite VOTES Cancelled

American Idol put up the wrong graphics and hence ruled last night voting cancelled.

They will re-air the show tonight and will accept all new votes which will be the only ones to count. Any votes last night are voided.

Personally, Mikalah, needs to go! LOL

American Idol is only entertaining during the castings.

ronaldo 03-23-2005 12:27 PM

Doesn't it cost money to cast a vote?

PrivateIvy 03-23-2005 12:28 PM

Heard that on the radio just a bit ago !

I don't watch it but was thinking it sounded like another good marketing scam LOL

Of course, they could have made an error too, in which case, that sucks for the people on the show :Oh crap

Welp, voting is toll free 866 nbr, and I use my cell and its free minutes.

I just cannot believe now that they are down to the Top 11, they screw up the phone number graphics and have to re run the show...there is no way 40 million votes will come in like they did last night....

Somebody got in trouble today...but at least they did the right thing....and cancelled the votes and are trying to start voting over.

I love this show...and for some stupid reason always end up becoming a fan to so many and really want them to get a chance of a lifetime.

Don't tell anyone I am soft, it would ruin my reputation... :1orglaugh

yeah Mikalaha definitely needs to go....she would be gone tonight it not for the mess up...she was terrible...

I can't believe I'm actually watching this show past the auditions this year....

Mikalah reminds me of the perfect person to portray a role in a movie for either Barbra Streisand or Fran Dreschler.....

She should have never made it to the Top 32, and I hope she got enough exposure to be picked up for TV or broadway but she is no singer, and is not marketable in the music industry.

Last night Carrie blew me away! She is definately going to be in the final 2, and I have not decided on who I think will be the one she will go up against.

I was made at Anwar last night, I really want to see him go all the way but maybe the battle will be between Bo and Carrie or Anwar and Carrie, but could be Jessica and Carrie who knows....

They told her 4 times to be herself (younger, more exciting etc.) she keeps doing bad renditions of ballads. I wonder if her parents are assisting her with song selection. She should be shit canned.

Elli 03-23-2005 12:46 PM

It says in the credits that the show retains veto right over whatever the audience thinks anyway. They could have just fudged it.

LeeNoga 03-23-2005 12:47 PM

Mikalah lost her identity that won them over during the auditions.

When Simon told her "1/2 the people will like you, and you will annoy the other 1/2"...she changed.

The following week, she did the zipper her mouth gesture, so it was clear she was trying to tone down...and hence tried to be somebody she was not.

She strikes me as a broadway singer..but she is not billboard material, and never should have made it this far.

She aced one song she sang weeks ago..a ballad, and I think when she got praise and props, she stuck with ballads thinking that was her forte because she has no singing background and no forte or identity...

I much rather listen to Nikko than her because at this level of talent against her, she is just making a fool of herself.

TondaB 03-23-2005 12:54 PM

I agree Lee. This show has me hooked too and I can't wait to see "the nanny sound a like" GONE! I would like to see a Bo vs Carrie or a Jessica vs. Carrie.

TondaB 03-23-2005 12:56 PM

Oh btw, do any of you watch Nashville Star?

Shooting_Manic 03-23-2005 12:58 PM

Mikalah is an actress that can sing alittle bit, not a singer the can also act.

MandyBlake 03-23-2005 12:59 PM

and why should i care? lol

Yes, I watched this show alot last year and have not followed it this year.

I also followed Oprah's popstar thing...

But, Idol is my favorite.

I also watched last year, forget the name of the show but built them up as stars, but it was America's worst singers...that was funny..

Did you notice when they did American Idol juniors last year you never heard the kids again, and they did not do it again...

You should try to catch some of this season's Nashville Star. I think it is the best Nashville Star ever. I agree that AI is the best though. I am addicted!

American Idol juniors...it did not turn out as well as I think they thought it would.

I believe in total "same page" clarity....

You do not want me to tell anyone:

SyykBoy2 WATCHES AMERICAN IDOL !!!!!

Just want to make sure I did not misunderstand... :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

BO BICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

LeeNoga 03-23-2005 01:18 PM

I really like Bo as well...

That was a little lame to sing, "Time in A Bottle" by Jim Croce from the 70's, but he has a large female fan base, and he worked it out last night, even tho it was lame, he renewed this library card with the teenie boppers...

JUSTB 03-23-2005 01:35 PM

I agree Mikalah needs to go. I can see her being successful in show biz but not as a recording artist. She's a very entertaining attractive girl though.

My faves are carrie, Bo, and Jessica. They all really stood out last night I thought. Carris has been my favorite since the beginning but gotta root for Tampa girl Jessica. I am really, really ready for Constantine to go. He so grosses me out!

I have friends over for dinner and we do Idol, and everytime Scott comes on they cringe....he talks like he has urban influence with some strong redneck roots. He is just not personable even when he does not speak, he is just kinda "drone" like with no personality or stage presence...but has a nice voice.

Nadia had some great mohawk hair last night...but I think Constantine blew it last night, and agree..he is on thin ice...

It is going to come down to Bo, Carrie, Jessica and Anwar.

JUSTB 03-23-2005 01:48 PM

Did you think Anwar was good last night? I like him but thought he was much better last week.

I almost feel like having the 2 "rockers" was a conspiracy to move in a new direction and wind up with a different genre of music this year for the winner.

if so, it worked...the main reason I've been tuning in this season is they are offering something a little different by adding some rockers...

Lee, yup, loved Nadia rocking the 'hawk...I love women with mohawks...

Really? I enjoyed it .... :) But i think anything that dude sings i would love - his voice is so natural and great.

Constantine def freaks me out a bit.. something creepy about him... and yes the girl who sang the Heart song last nite blew me away.... :thumbsup

...

Exactly. Carrie they embraced her for country roots, and now when she sang that heart song, she proved she can do contemporary country with crossover to pop, definately would sell more records that Fantasia who is R&B, and Clay who is pop....Ruben is R & B

But, BO definately raised the bar, and they have the highest ratings ever, and if Bo won, I would be so fine with that too....

He has such talent, that doing that song last night was a little, "mushie", when he could have taken a song from Styx and tore it up..he was not a rocker last night..and thats his fame....ballad was fine but JIM CROCE???? Ewww.

Nope, Anwar let me down last night, he was a little pitchie in the beginning and worked it out at the end which is his trademark..he starts as a lamb and has a dynamic ending which saves him...

He has still not found his niche yet....he seems to be holding back, playing it safe, or just scared to death, dunno.

I think he has alot more inside of him that we have not seen yet...and this is where the show gets great, the finalists started bringing stuff out they did not know they had and took risks.

We will see them grow and build confidence, and I think some of the weaker ones may surprise us!

yeah, I had nevre paid much attention to her until that song...that's one of my all time favorite songs and she nailed it

I think Bo tried to do something a little different and it worked, but would have preferred to see him do something a bit harder. I think he did that as a way od saying "I'm mroe than the rocker dude".

I've never cared for Constantine much...he's trying to hard to be another Creed-type singer...but I gotta cheer for the rockers as they need to be more represented on the show...there was a sorta half-assed rocker last year, but he wasn't that good......

cherrylula 03-23-2005 03:10 PM

that's some brilliant hype, I'll have to try and catch the show tonight cause I didn't catch it anyhow. Marketing genius.

totally
sales/marketing people should watch that show and learn a thing or two...

Monique Niccole 03-23-2005 03:16 PM

I also agree that Mikalah needs to go. I've never liked her personality. She seems to act like a bit of a hoochie to only be...what, 16? Also, when she sings, her phrasing is awful. Whatever irritating accent she has (Long Island?) seems to really come through in her singing voice.

Strife 03-23-2005 03:21 PM

Constantine and Nadia both butchered their songs last night. Constantine trying to rock a Partridge Family song..gimme a break..it was laughtable.

I totally agree. I watch it solidly during that time, then stop when the casting's done. I feel bad sometimes though; some of those people are so completely insane I feel guilty laughing at them!

bopha 03-23-2005 03:26 PM

I like Bo. I read on MSN that the actual competition a few of the contestants..ie..Carrie, Bo etc.. won't start for a few weeks. They are safe until Makayla and NIkko etc are gone. This time in the competition is spent building their fan base. Bo pulls out a ballad to woo the voters of contestants like Anthony Federov- once he's gone his votes are up for grabs. Pretty good stategy. I liked the Whipping post song a lot, but he's reeling in some new fans with Time in a Bottle.

Sadly..Anwar is a one trick pony. He's shakey and pitchy at the beginning of EVERY SONG and then he holds one long note. I'd like him to live a little dangerously and do some Terrance Trent D'Arby or some Milli Vanilli, just for fun. Let's see some personality.

I actually like Constantine's song. That was pretty smart, IMHO, trends, fads repeat and there is a space open for a new David Cassidy. He's not a spectacular talent, but there's always been room for the idol who has the X factor but isn't the greatest artist. (See Donny Osmond.. front row)

Scott got my vote last night. He owned that song.. He understood it. Big difference from the borefest of contestants who 'hear songs they sing for the first time that week and have no idea what to do with it.

2cents plus

Centurion 03-23-2005 07:44 PM
