New Domain extention .EU
Europe gets green light for Internet .eu extension
PARIS (AFP) - Europe will be able to launch its own Internet extension -- .eu -- in early 2006, the French Web site domaines.info that specializes in the registration of domain names said. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers approved Monday the .eu extension which will be used by businesses and individuals that want to give their activities a European dimension. ICANN (news - web sites), a non-profit organization set up in 1998 at the initiative of the US government to respond to requests to do business on the Internet, has been authorized to sign an accord with EURid, the Belgium-based registrar of European domain names. |

Of course, you can always to pre-register some through EuroDNS or DomainDiscount24. No guarantee they'll get you the names you want, however. So far, EurID (which won the contract to operate the .eu registry) has no accredited registrars, but I was told they are recommending EuroDNS to those who are inquiring about pre-regs. :winkwink: |

Silly statement of the year award.... If you owned a dating site in europe i would think .eu would be the most important domain to own dont you ? Not only does it give your site a more local feel , but chances are your .com is already sold :) |

I don't like the cost though - Very expensive especially when you have several hundred ordered. On the bright side, new computers being sold in 2006 will be set up with .eu as standard (search engines - google.eu for eg) So, the extention will have a resonable value - But with the different amount of languages involved, I personally think the .in extentions will be worth more as English is very much a common language in India. |
how does it work if you have some that are 2/3 etc. Will they go into a bid process?

[QUOTE=HarlotCash Dyker]If you went though eudr, 1-1 is guaranteed -
Says "not guaranteed" on the site but I hope you are right because I stand to make some nice coin. |

No but the forms seem broken |
what link are you using? If you don't want to post it to the board would you mind e-mailing it to me?
Thanks |
It can be really beneficial and lucrative if you own the primary .com of a good name and let all the other variation owners spend money for the marketing, cause inevitably the vast lot of surfers will still go and check out the .com version as well.

I do know that in the two lists we are running what were 1-1 is now 1-4 or even 5, making us first out of the ones we pre-ordered. 5 is the max number of people they allow to pre=order any single domain name. (Obviously 1= first come to 5=last come) |

I went back on there about a month ago and pre-reg lots of tourist locations and regional areas so there should still be some of those left because I only picked the ones I have visited. |

I hope you do well out of yours, and I hope I do too! |

I got a bunch on pre order too... I think .eu will increase the value of .us as well.
