Is It A DISEASE BEING A PERFECTIONIST???
First, I am not a web genious. I have had no formal training in any area of web design, video, imaging, or other computer related areas. That being said, I am damn good at everything I do. I am the classic "jack-of-all-trades". However, I am now burning the 5th copy of a dvd I built yesterday. Every time I watch the finished disc, I find some little thing that irritates me so much I re-render the enire project and wait 2 hours for it to complete...knowing damn well it will never be good enough.
This is a bunch of blablabla so - MY QUESTION IS THIS: IS BEING A PERFECTIONIST A DISEASE OR SIMPLY A CONTROLABLE IRRITTION THAT BENEFITS IN THE END??? |
it's called ADD, get some help
|
I have that too, but this is more focused on detail. Little things that I just can't let go. It's like proof-reading every post checking for errors - when it really doesn't mean shit.

Not a disease. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder affects millions of people. Its caused by chemical imbalances in your brain.
I have a friend who has it really bad. She's become obsessed with perfect hygiene to the point of bizarre. Like if you go to a restaurant she won't touch the menu. She won't pickup the salt or pepper shakers. She won't touch doorknobs. |
you down wit o.c.d?? yeah you know me!!

Never liked touching public doorknobs especially at a public restroom. |
According to DSM (what version is it now???), obsessive-compulsive is not diagnosed from re-editing a DVD a few times. So you're safe ... for now.
:thumbsup |
i never really thought about it that way. if it could be clinically proven then i might very well be a disease
|
I'd rather call it as an obssession.

2nd, you're good at everything you do, except for spelling, and being able to tell the difference between an involuntary impairment of health and a voluntary obsession. |
