affiliates ever sue a sponsor?

When i first started getting into this all i promoted a now dated ppc program. When i signed up they were still active and took my traffic though. I more or less forgot about this program because i moved on to bigger and betters related to other projects. About a month ago i noticed on one of my older sites i still had thier links up and went to go check the stats for the program which i had forgotten about. A decent sum of money had been generated over the months the link had been up, but i never recieved a check. Today I called the company and asked them about changing some info on my account and to discuss when i would have a check cut. The person i spoke to was supposedly in charge of advertising but couldnt help with any billing questions (i knew it was coming). When i asked him about changing some of my info he said it wouldnt be needed because the program is more or less done with.

Now this leaves me wondering why the hell they have a site you can still sign up for as an affiliate with no mention of the program being dead and you can still send traffic and track hits/cash made.

Has anyone ever sued a sponsor for unclaimed cash? What are your results? and what amount is too little to even bother with.

this isnt a billing company but an actual sponsor. not sure if that makes a difference.
