Holy Week in the Philippines (pix)
Like no other nation, the Philippines celebrates Holy Week, also known as Easter and Lent, with many Filipinos taking the opportunity to go on vacation between a variety of religious and semi-religious events and celebrations in every city and town around the country.
The crucifixion of Jesus Christ is literally re-enacted in bloody spectacles in several places next weekend. It's not for the faint-hearted, but large crowds turn out particularly in Cutud and other towns in Pampanga. http://www.myph.com.ph/images/0318_p1crucify.jpg |
I dont seen any nails. If they are going to do it, Do it like in the movies.

Pinoys are nut jobs.
Any race that they had to create the 45 caliber to stop them from stabbing US Service men has to be crazy during the Spanish American War. |
way too over the top
|
I saw pics from last years parade and nailing since my friend was vacationing there... it was insanity... he even got fuckin splattered with some blood from the canings.
|
Wow, those pictures are intense!
|
What...no Easter bonnets?!?
As I posted in another thread on this, I would like to have Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson, and other such religious zealots perform self-flagellation upon themselves as penance for flogging and fleecing so many gullible sheep over the years. ADG Webmaster |

Filipinos are devout Catholics.

If this was done by Muslims, you'd have a different reaction...

But these "rituals" aren't necessarily approved by the Catholic Church. It is in fact prohibited to do so, only thing is it's been "tradition" among the old folklore and it's passed down from generation to generation. :2 cents: |
