Last year I spent $540 on domain names, and I didnt even use most of them
 

I'm really pissed at myself, its like an addiction. It seems so cheap, $8 here, $8 there but it really ads up.

I'm counting up my domain names for my taxes and it hit me that I spend $540 on them, and I didnt even use most of them.

I should have spent that on 1 GREAT domain and just used that :Oh crap

there must be a lot of domain name addicts who just buy buy buy and it ads up.

i spent $25k or so last year on domains

I spent 1k$ on domains and I didn't use a single one

all I did was sell them back, made helluva lot of profit, and it's a hobby I love to do

I spent about $380 this year so far and almost all of them are still in development. :(
I just see some and i'm like "Oh shit! What a perfect domain!" when most of the time I wake up the next day and wonder what the hell I was thinking.

oh. well i dont feel so bad anymore now

I tried that once when I used network solutions but it was so unbelievably confusing to transfer them I never tried to sell them again.

yeah, $500 isn't really too much. jsut be prepared to renew them all, if you registered them on the same day :)

what are some of the names you didnt use - perhaps by posting them here - you can make your $500+ back

I spent about $3k. Used most of them.

Ive spent a couple hundred this year also and most all are sitting there. Some really good ones also.

It's hard to pass up a good deal on a great name.

I know the feeling, I have over 200 domains. While I tend to be careful about what I buy there are a few that I should have passed up. Not a big deal though, comes with the territory, a few hundred dollars is just water under the bridge.

I spent 40,000 dollars renewing the names in my portfolio. I probably spent another 150,000 on purchases.

Nearly 6,000.

i never buy a domain unless im sure i'll use it and it has a purpose or a goal for it.
i cant wait till a few of them expire actually.

nice - i have almost 2,000 domains - always adjusting cleaning - are all your 6K domains top ones that you'd renew? or how do you analyse that?

Me, too. But used less than 1/2. Most just have an FPA at the root.

I severely started limiting myself on buying names unless it's too good to pass or it's needed for a project. I've sold a few of them in the past for a decent profit and I have plans or am using just about all that I have bought. However damn It's an addiction I swear.

i do the same thing you guys do and redirect them all to the same site. why? just like you, i think ill do something with it...i dont even bother trying to sell them.

then once its time to renew i should just let go, but now i feel like theyre mine forever...lol
