The site gets so much traffic because there's a porn torrent website called empornium.us
I bet the .com does get quite a few type-ins, but it's going to be people looking to download full and free porn videos.

12-24 months is pretty common actually.

so it's nothing stable, the traffic may stop in few months when that site goes down

thats what happens when you chose a .US rather than a .COM to build a popular site ;)

Traffic is actually quite stable and so are the revenue numbers. What is important is that we are NOT dealing with any sort of link traffic, this is PURE type-ins.
In the event empornium.us were to close we would still receive a steady flow of traffic and there are many ways to use this traffic as a launching pad for a self-contained site and actually GROW traffic from there.

Torrent sites get shut down daily,
Suprnova.org went down
torrentreactor.com
lokitorrent.com was shut down

These sites risk being shut down, when they do they go around changing names if the owners dont end up behind bars.
Surfers visiting these sites are mostly from countries that dont even own credit cards, and since they know the entire torrent thing I doubt anyone is interested in buying anything.

I bet Icoocash would convert great on this

The name is making $800+ monthly, however you put it I would not call that "worthless".

On another note, the traffic is coming in as type ins (of course due to the poublarity of the .US version), this is NOT link traffic. Even if the .US were to shut down, we would continue seeing significant traffic on this name for a while. There are many ways to actually turn such a situation around and grow the traffic by for example developing the site and using its intrinsic traffic as a leverage.
Lastly, unlike the other torrent sites mentioned above, empornium.us is porn-only and has pretty strict rules which mitigate the probability of being shut down.

ya i agree it is a profitable domain. but people here are right. about it can go down tomorow and as soon as it goes. whoever buys that isnt going to be too happy with wasting 15k. so you have to be realisitic.

i would keep it myself. and enjoy the money while you can. promote some sponsors. i am sure people will give you content if you can turn it into sales.

if someone is offering you 5k+ for it i would run with it now.

Fris and others, thanks for the input. I would actually not be selling this domain if it were not for personal short term liquidity issues. There is a risk/reward factor to consider and I think at $10k I am not making things go out of hand. In any event, I will consider all reasonable offers for this domain name.

On another note, if anyone wants SexBlog.us... asking $5k firm. :)

Your domain is really considered a typo domain not a type in domain.

It's traffic levels are directly linked to the traffic/popularity of the site that typo is comming from.

That site dies, so will your typin traffic because the free publicity will die as well
