Nassau. :thumbsup

Atlantis resort in Paradise Island for the mega Vegas style hotel or Club Med in Eleuthera for the smaller European style hotel:2 cents:

jesus christ we are getting an all inclusive though...an extra $700 a person, but that includes all activites, meals, drink and tips |
I did Freeport and it just struck me as a bunch of strong-arming street vendors. By far the worst place I've been in the Bahamas.
Nassau was nice... St. Martin was nice. A cruise might be your best bet since you'd be able to do several islands, rather than just one. |

I guess I can provide some expert opinion on this :winkwink:
If you want the best nassau has to offer there is only one way to go Ocean Club. Ocean club is owned by Atlantis and is their high end version. http://www.oneandonlyresorts.com/oao...ex.aspx?lang=0 The rooms are absolutely beautiful. It's right on the beach. VERY Romantic. If you can afford it, it is well worth it. Besides that Atlantis is a very good bet. It has everything if you want the beach, pools, activities, people, gambling etc. For an absolutely amazing day I definitely recommend http://powerboatadventures.com/ It is a great time. Very relaxing laid back and fun. Let me know if there is anything else you need to know :thumbsup |

Aside from Atlantis the Bahammas is a dump. Picture a ghetto on miles of beach.

What he says is true... I flew into the small airport at the very tip of Freeport back in 91. We couldn't get the tower to answer us so we flew over it.. lol and it was burnt down and no one decided to fix it. There were old junk planes scattered all around the airport. and the place looked like we just flew into Beirut. We ended up having to walk to the customs office because no one was at the airport, well until some guy came along in a golf cart and gave us a ride. I swear to god every car I saw there was crashed or had been crashed at some point. I will adimit I didn't see much of the island never made in into town as I was on a boat the entire 2 weeks. However The diving was great just the island was a bit rough around the edges. Then again I guess that is what is to be expected if you don't go to the tourist trap areas. |
I'm a long time lurker first time poster. I just got back from the Bahamas last week and I loved it. I went to the Abacos. You fly into Marsh Harbor and then take a ferry boat over to Guana Cay. It's a small island with a few nice houses and a handful of small resorts. Check out Dolphin Resorts for a nice place to stay. There are only a few places to eat but the food is fantastic. There is one bar called Nippers ( nippers.com ) that's on the beach. Great food and really friendly people. In two days I had met most of the locals. You can fish, snorkle, surf and there is lots of beautiful secluded beaches. The main method of transportation is by golf cart which you can rent while you are there. There are no Police on Guana Cay but everyone seems to behave with no problems. If you were at Nippers having a few cups of their special Nipper Juice ( 5 kinds of rum and they wouldn't tell me the rest ) and then took your wife down the steps to the beach for a little romp in the sand know one would mind.
If you are looking for a slow paced vacation with just a few really nice people at a place with beautiful beaches and crystal clear water, check out the outer islands like Guana Cay or Elbow Cay. You will love it too. |
If your looking for fun place just to relax and drink then stay at breezes on cable beach. It is much more laid back than Atlantis. I would also recommend the booze and cruise. It is a great way to see everything and a lot of fun.

Way more resort like style and things happening in Nassau. Freeport is nice also if you like less people and more of an open space totally laid back feel.
|
If you go to freeport stay at the Princess ( did very well in their casino) or at the Grand Lucayen. Nice area. I love the old limo taxis.
|
You would be much (let me repeat, MUCH) better off in the dominican republic at an all inclusive. Check this site for reviews of all the hotels there:
Debbies Dominican Travel Any of the Iberostar resorts will be good, especially Hacienda Dominicus. Also have a few couples only places if you dont feel like looking at any kids during your trip... |
freeport sucks ass.
