anyone here ever had their luggage lost?

my boyfriend flew back from Florida today, we waited for his luggage, and it never showed up (along with 1/2 of the people on the same flight).

We went to the service counter, they told us they *think* its in Philidelphia (where he had his transfer at), and it *should* be at the airport in a few more hours (on the next flight), and they said they would call us & we can come pick it up (or wait till tomorrow and they can have it delivered around noon).

We never got a phone call (im about to call them now and see wtf is goin on).

Anyone else have to go through shit like this? :(

Yes, Air France lost my shit on the way to that shithole armpit of the earth.

yeah it happened when i came back from europe. they just routed it it wrong and it ended up in the wrong place. they have their own deliver trucks to just deliver people luggage. didnt they give you a # to call to check the status?

Kevsh 03-20-2005 10:58 PM

It happened. On my way to Istanbul a few years ago I missed my flight in Toronto (long story) and as I had a connecting flight in Amsterdam, everything got screwed up. I finally got it 2 days later at a resort in southern Turkey. I was amazed it ever got to me at all.

Continental lost my luggage when I went to LA. When I got it back there were Alaska tags and 1 more place.... it almost went to all corners of the US in one trip :winkwink:

Spunky 03-20-2005 11:02 PM

It usually takes the handlers a day or two to rifle through them first

Babagirls 03-20-2005 11:08 PM

damnitt! i just got off the phone with them, his bag just magically disappeared! they have no clue where its at, but told me to call the airport at 5am to check again.

see, this is why i never check-in bags, i always use carry ons lol

Yep, had one suitcase that got on the wrong plane. I got compensation, and they finally found my suitcase and delivered it to me after 3 days. With all the luggage handled I'm amazed more stuff doesn't get lost and stolen.

The WORST thing happened to my ex. She was going back to LA and they lost her luggage. She had some pretty important stuff in it that she needed ASAP, so when they located the luggage they said if she wanted it faster she could pick it up herself.
So she got an address, which was a residential address. It was a regular house. So she stepped in and the house was crammed with opened luggages and people looking through them.

When I heard about it I was pretty shocked.

Once it happened and they sent a check for 700.00 for two bags.

Most of the time they find it and deliver it to your business or home within 48 hours. :)

we had the same problem last January on the way back to Hongkong from Ireland, Cathay Pacific lost our luggages and we didn't have anything to wear because all our clothes were on the 2 luggages.
And what happened was, aside from losing them they returned them the following day with one of the luggages broken.

jamesonxx 03-21-2005 02:35 AM

Not yet. Thank God.

Illicit 03-21-2005 02:38 AM

if they dont find it because the tag has fallen off they'll have you list all the items and values then give you about 1/3 the value. then they'll sell it off at auction and make a nice profit.

suesheboy 03-21-2005 05:50 AM

Lost 4 times and only only once it did not show up.

webcrawler 03-21-2005 06:16 AM

NaughtyAlysha 03-21-2005 10:51 AM

Air France lost our luggage on our way to Berlin, Germany last year. We changed planes in Paris, and that's where they told us our luggage was after we were the last ones standing at the baggage claim area. Of course, the two bags that were missing were the two that had ALL of our clothes, and we were due to attend a convention the next morning. I freaked out on the lady on the phone, and told them we stood to lose "a ton of money on this business trip", and that they needed to do something right away. Our luggage ended up being delivered to the hotel within a few hours.

Susan F 03-21-2005 10:57 AM

Never happened to me but it just happened to my aunt and she´s going crazy without her stuff!!!

loverboy 03-21-2005 11:04 AM

imageman 03-21-2005 11:07 AM

It happens all the time

Baggage handlers are not employed for their genius IQ

My luggage has seen more of the world than i have!!!

ozmatt 03-21-2005 11:11 AM

happened to me when i arrived in Las Vegas in Jan from Australia for Internext.

I flew from brisbane to sydney to vancouver to LA then to Las Vegas.. last time i saw my luggage was in vancouver. It took 2 days for my first back to show up.. then my remaining bag showed up the next day :|

The worst thing is calling the automated phone service to find out about your bags... those machines dont really like an aussie accent.. so i had to spell out my name and destination constantly just to hear "sorry you bags have not been located. try later"

grrrr

matt
