It's Obvious: Most of you HAVE NO CLUE what a Blog is supposed to be...

Most of the blogs posted here suck ass. Get a clue. Who wants to visit a blog that has a couple of comments and a lame, generic picture or two? What's interesting about that? Why would they want to come back?

care to educate us blogmaster?

Young 03-20-2005 06:36 PM

so i guess according to your example... no hot chic pictures in a blog..... is better than generic hot chic pictures??

Sly 03-20-2005 06:36 PM

The first blogs I saw were E/N, about 6 years back. The term blog hadn't been created yet. A friend of mine had a really popular one. Updated daily with his commentary about life, things in the news, stupid stuff that happened. This current adult blog trend will end after a couple of months when people realize they take actual work.

Exactly.

A blog is a web diary. Opinions and comments on whatever you're talking about. Not a few pictures and a few "see, this girl has a shaved pussy" type comments.

swedguy 03-20-2005 06:40 PM

People seem to think that everything that has to do with galleries :)

ssp 03-20-2005 06:44 PM

It's a beautiful blog you have, very tight!

AdPatron 03-20-2005 06:45 PM

It's true. Most blogs I've seen on here are not blogs at all, more like porn review sites.

thaifan99 03-20-2005 06:45 PM

Dont really wanna have a clue either..................

Za Ha 03-20-2005 06:45 PM

A blog does not have to have almost as many words as a novel. A quick short description of something interesting is enough for a normal blog. I tis extremely difficult to keep a website updated daily with 200+ word entries, especially if you are treating it as a project on the side.

A blog shouldn't be a "project on the side".

You're right, it doesn't have to be a novel. But it does need to make people want to come back from time to time. If surfers wanted to see a few pics posted they'd go to a TGP.

iwantchixx 03-20-2005 06:51 PM

It seems like you don't either :) j/k. Had to throw that in there.

I think you should bold, italic and <stong> tag some things that you want to POP out. Also, you may be writing waaaaay to long in your posts. Keep em short n sweet. A couple paragraphs is plenty. Nobody is going to read that much when there are pictures int eh corner of their eye.

iwantchixx 03-20-2005 06:53 PM

Looks a lot like my blog at http://coolxxxstuff.blogspot.com (havent updated it in a week, been pretty busy. Same template :) I'm going to edit my template though to make it unique when I have time.

i agree it has to have some personal touch... whether it is an opinion or just ranting...

Sly 03-20-2005 06:54 PM

Actually I read Donny's full blog, haha. I found it interesting. If I'm only interested in getting off to cute teens, I'll find a TGP.

I've had a lot of people tell me they read the whole thing. I have links from several different places. Putting my blog in my sig is pretty safe for any message board, mainstream or adult. And I make sure the pics I post in it aren't pornographic. It sends some high quality traffic to the links I have on the right.

azguy 03-20-2005 06:58 PM

I agree. Most blogs these days are 100% garbage. I was surprised to find actual amusing and useful content on yours. I even bookmarked it, and I haven't bookmarked one in a month already. Keep it up :)

swedguy 03-20-2005 06:58 PM

A blog can be whatever you want it to be. But I've seen some that are just a TGP in a blog format.

Yes.

"Free" and "Blog" in the same sentence... come on...

While there is some truth to your comments, just remember that the wheel and silicon chip were invented for one thing and later evolved to become even more useful.

That being said, I don't know what your target audience is, but you still have a lot to learn when it comes to using blogs to their utmost.

Maybe I will write a blog on it someday.

Steen2 03-21-2005 12:35 AM

Donovan understands blogs. That one will be a moneymaker.

Remember, this is the board where someone will post "too long to read, can ya break it down for me" any time somebody puts up three paragraphs of text. It's no suprise that mentality churns out clueless blogs.

yeah. people do read that stuff. I have a couple entries about the Fred Durst SideKick hack that is having friends of the girl involved coming in and contributing almost daily.

reynold 03-21-2005 02:33 AM

I love reading blogs.

bringer 03-21-2005 02:41 AM

its become a chore writing a blog for one simple reason: my life is boring. i assume its the same for most others who as you said post a picture and a 45letter description. people dont care about how many hours of matlock i watch each day or what i ate for lunch that day. maybe ill use my alter ego and start posting about the models i had sex with that day with a link to their site(my wm id included). maybe then people would care.

yes, unless you live the life of someone like the White Cheech, you are better off making stuff up :pimp

Jace 03-21-2005 02:45 AM

you all are fools....all that matters is sales are made from it...plain and simple

yes, donny's is a traditional blog....but a porn surfer blog made to make money from surfers is a different thing..do you want people reading 2 pages of text or clicking the links after you get them all hot from the story or pic you posted?

I have been writing stories and leaving off right in the middle, then putting a wanna read more?, link right at the end

a blog is whatever you make of it...and as long as you make sales from making it, you have succeeded in porn blogging

i could make sales from handing out flyers but they'd be limited and a waste of time. why setup a blog and make a template only to post worthless crap that can be found anywhere on the net? post something that'll keep people interested and they'll come back. return readers will eventually see something they like and signup. they will also tell their friends about your interesting site if its basis is more then a picture and a title. people who stumble across your site are limited to the most recent post because a picture and a description most likely isnt going to make them want to read any further to find something they're interested in. they'll just click back and look at the next se listing.

rezdesign 03-21-2005 11:38 AM

people with REAL blogs (about girls, for girls, by girls)... post it here! www.blogchick.com

You think real life people who have blogs on livejournal, etc treat this as their main focus in life? No, its a side project that they do.

Good post.

I have people who have already bookmarked my blog and return daily to see if I've added anything new.

Bookmarking is where it's at. Someday you'll say something that makes them want to join a site you've linked to. The readers will come to trust you over time.

I'm not necessarily trying to create a "porn blog". I am creating "a pornographer's blog". Not every entry will be about porn. I'm attempting to create a blog that people want to READ. So far, feedback from readers is telling me I'm succeeding.

I read post 45 and I have scanned your blog. Not putting down what you are doing but one of the things I notice just scanning your blog is that while you say you have people reading it (I am sure you do) only one saw fit to make a comment.

I look at my blog and I see conversations going on between readers of mine.

You mentioned you have SE hits, but for what search terms?

Some people write to write, just because they have a love of writing. They don't even care if anyone reads it (although this would please them to no end), they write for themselves.

Me, I write for profit. I always have a motive when I take the time to type something out. it is either to promote one of my programs, or a program that will pay me for bringing buyers to them.

I guess it comes down to writing for the love of writing, or the love of money. I fall into the latter group. To each their own.

baddog 03-21-2005 02:28 PM

Sorry, I forgot to make my point: One of the things that make blogs such great spider bait is activity. That is why I stress to you the impotance of trackbacks (and getting rid of that nofollow tag). Comments from your readers are additional activity.

However, if you are only writing because you love to write, then this may not matter to you.
