Terri Schiavo - Starving to death?

Whether you think Terri should be allowed to die or not......is starving her to death the way to do it? Whether she ever has a chance of recovery or not....how do you justify letting her die by starving her to death?

There WAS a better way but the same people protesting to keep her "alive" are the same ones that protested against that better way and pushed to persue Kevorkian and now he is in prison.

Euthanasia would be the better way but its not available.

On the news there was a doctor that said she feels NO pain, is totally unaware of anything around her or happening to her. So, she would not be in any pain. Or so said the doctor.

eddie-executive 03-20-2005 05:15 PM

ok if she feels no pain why not put a bullet in her head she wont feel it. Starving someone is not right. Why don't they just starve all the people who get the death penalty then? Cause its inhumane.

A 2.6 million dollar award for her care is supposed to be paying for it.

Well...depending where she is housed...the expense would be from about $2,000.00 per month on the low end...up to $10,000 or higher...on the high end. I suspect she is probably somewhere on the lower end...so you can do the math.

Yes, thats how she is dieing. if she had been given no life supprt 15 years ago, thats how she would have died. If it were not for medical advance that young lady would have been dead. Its not killing her, its letting nature take its course, like it should have years ago. We are doing no one any favors by draging this out.

Our government is now in the right to live and the right to die. What will be next? How we live?

Better brush up on your bible skills.

she cant feel it.

ironic that she got brain damage in the first place from trying to starve herself.

Really? I wasn't aware of how she got in this condition in the first place :(

I would just put the feeding tube in. Whats the big deal with letting her live. She will probaly die of natural causes soon enough.

By the logic of some all helpless, retards, paralyzed etc should be killed, as well as be completely supportive of late term abortions. But be vehemtly against the death penalty on murderers and child molesters.

i think the situation is fucked up

if the parents what her to live, and she never signed anything saying she wanted to die in this state then why the fuck are you going to go on the "word" of the husband who probably was a peice of shit to her anyways.

if there was a signed document stating her wishes its one thing, but to go on the word of the husband who is obviously a peice of shit for going to such great lengths to kill her.

he probably has something to do with the reason she is how she is now and doesnt want the truth to come out. he is married with another family so whats the big deal if her FAMILY wants to keep her alive.

No no the "logic" isn't analogous at all. Her husband as well as several courts have ruled in favor of no extreme/artificial means of prolonging her life in a vegitative state as per her wishes based on at least the testimony of a few people. No one is suggesting euthanizing her because she has no brain function(I don't think so anyway). Saying that, the later part of your post doesn't apply, but I'll answer it anyway.

I'm generally against the death penalty unless the crime is of an incredibly horrific nature(obviously open to interperitation) and backed up by DNA evidence. Also if a man on death row wanted his sentence sped up I wouldn't be opposed to that. I'm also in favor of a person's right to choose death. If someone has lived their life and now only suffers in pain it should be their right to end it in a manner and time of their choosing surrounded by loved ones and whatnot.

That brings me back to Schaivo. According to the courts, friends, and her husband who is really the only one who matters... In the event that she couldn't make the choice and was to live presumably suffering he was the one to pull the plug so to speak.

17 court decisons have held that she would not have wanted to be kept alive with something like this. She is already brain dead. Any loving husband would want to respect their wife's wishes.

The idiot right-to-lifers keep playing a stupid video showing she can follow a baloon with her eyes, so can a spider, big deal.

Now, look at our idiot congress in special session with this stupid "Terry's Law" requiring a federal court to intervene, where once again a judge will no doubt rule in the husbands' favor.

Meanwhile, that poor 9 year old girl in Florida is dug out of the dirt because we have no "special congressional session" to fix our broken sexual predator laws. Children don't vote, so republicans don't give a shit about that issue.
