Suggest a SLR camera for me.
Thanks in advance.

digital canon 20d film nikon n80 or the f6
|
nikon d70
|
Depends what you want to spend and what you want to use it for ?
The D70 is a cool camera but not much use in a studio set up The Nikon D1x or D2x are both excellent studio cameras but way expensive at $4000+.
Canon have some great cameras but you should tell us what you want to shoot with it so we can give you better advice. |

Solo girl style sites. And D70 is $1,200 with $200 rebate at circuit city lol. That works. $4k+ doesnt. |
depends on what you want it for etc
The Canon Digital Rebel has dropped in price significantly over the past few months. It used to be 1400, and now can be picked up for 949.95 (canadian - at future shop, best buy and camera shops)
You said you wanted an SLR? So do you want an SLR or a digital SLR? There is a difference. I am a hewlett-packard rep for canada so I work at many different stores all over and know the prices etc. The Nikon is an awesome camera and is a little pricier but you do get a better zoom and better lens mounts (metal vs. plastic) An awesome site to check out more information if youd like is http://www.dpreview.com! -pooter |
D70
The D70 is an excellent camera outside of the studio, i got very poor results using one with studio flash, always too dark and needing lots of work in Photochop to get them to look right. With a low power on-camera flash you may have better results, i also dont like the minimum 200 ASA setting i always use 100 or 120 which gives me better results. But if you need content for the web im sure it will do ?

Thats crisp! Do you use extra Photo Flash lights or just have the studio properly lit to begin with?

Really? So...Which Digital SLR are you shooting with? My advice..... If your budget is $1,500 for the setup.....Go with the Nikon D70 and put as much money into a decent lens as you can. If $1,500 is your budget for the body alone then the 20D is the answer but keep in mind that you will be need to spend another chunk for a decent lens. No sense on having a great camera with shitty glass. :2 cents: One thing to consider......I shoot a lot of my pics in "portrait" mode. The 20D has an optional batter grip that also adds a shutter release button that is handy for shooting "portrait." The Nikon D70 does not offer such an upgrade...This also limits your batter life. |

The kit lens that comes with the D70 is a better lens than the piece of shit that comes with the 20D kit. But yes, you are coorrect. I shot this pic with the stock 20D crap lens. http://www.ampcontent.com/Pikz/Columbia.jpg |
I have a D300, the rebel. With nice lighting its as good as the D20.
