Weed is bad
 

So my buddy got rolled by the Brasilian Police today.... Apparently someone approached my buddy on the beach asking if he wanted weed. Now he's been jonesing for almost 2 weeks to get some so he was like yeah, hook it up. He came back up to the apartment to get me (I was just waking up and told him to come meet up and we'd go surfing together).... He tells me of his weed deal, I'm like, bro.. that wasn't very smart... He's like trust me, he was the guy who sold beers at the kiosk yesterday, he's cool.... So I'm like, fuck, ok let's go, instead of surfing I took the camera to take pics of the girlies playing in the water... mmmm... ok so im sitting next to him and his new forund 'friend' rocks up, sits down... He passes the money inside a surfer mag, the guy gives him what is supposedly weed... 30 seconds later 5 cops with machine guns, bullet proof vests etc roll up on us... start speaking Portuguese.... anyhow, we're told that our 'friend' has to translate and the translation is 'Pay them $200 or you go to jail for a month' lol... I'm like what the fuck... Starting to think that that's a good deal considering i have $275 glasses on my face, and a $1000 video camera, and $300 camera on me... They could have just said 'we're confiscating this' fucking potheads... but they didnt... they held my buddy there while i went to the pad to get their fuckin $200.... We got the fuck out of there QUICKLIKE... The 'friend' was starting to mention how there's more police on the scene and we may have to pay them off now too ....

A lesson learned..... Don't be a stupid fuck when you're travelling... Get weed from only people you know =)

I'm pretty sure when I'm in Amsterdam next month I won't get in trouble for wanting smokes ;-)

i was thankful our cameras didnt get 'confiscated' and even more thankful they didnt force us to take them to the pad which is on top of the tallest building in Ipanema (Rio/Brasil's Beverly Hills)...

Either way, nobody went to jail, and we only lost $200... and my buddy has learned a lesson.. and i guess I kind of did too =)

I have a very similar story to this but it takes place in Costa Rica.

I was out with 4 other friends, we'd spent all night (and a shitload of money) at our favorite tittybar, so we're on our way home in a taxi when one of use has the bright idea to ask the taxi driver to hook up some weed.

So the driver nods his head, we're all totally smashed and don't realize what's going on. He drives us into the most SKETCHY area I have ever been in my life. Some guy runs up to the car throws 2 pieces of toilet paper with weed on my lap, I give him the money, then we turn the corner and there is 5 police officers waiting for us. They make us each pay $25 or else we're getting "deported"

Sounds like the moral of the story is that cops are bad.

Lesson of the story: South America is filled with dirty cops. If you stay there long enough, you'll see this one way or the other.

3 years ago in Panama a friend of mine got busted for possession of the white stuff in his car. The police officers forced him to shell out $500 AND they took the drugs with them. Crazy shit.
