Win2000 or Windows xp?
Which one do you prefer and why
XP.
Um, well see I was not wearing my tinfoil hat during the mid ninties and well Gates told me to. |
XP, but if I already had win2k installed I wouldn't upgrade it to XP...
Isnt xp basically win2000 but a little more user friendly?
i used to use win2k 8 hours a day at work and then come home to xp pro. i always preferred xp pro cause of the added features and the interface.
Personally I think Win2k is Win98 GUI w/ XP back-end.
win 2000 all the way, xp is full of useless childish stuff...i will never ever install XP again on my work machine....for example..see that dog when you search for a file, what's that needed for? a waste of time from the programmer, not to mention system resources and shit....microsoft makes always heavier programs and OS just for having intel to sell their shit...not hard to understand...on the other hand, 2k isn't i think developed that much anymore therefore all updates and juicy stuff are devoted to XP.
just my opinion anyway. |
win2000, win2000 love you long time
2000 server edition!!! thats what I run on my laptop. Xp on the desktop....i love 2000 though.
only problem with 2000 is that its not compatible with my capture card....oh well. |

Win2k, networking is so much easier then with XP
If you have a hyperthreading CPU, I dont think 2k supports HT.
Winxp, seems to crash a lot less on me.
is 2000 faster than xp?
Franck: it is built on win2k, and you could call it 'user friendly' although i think the extras are pretty much a pile of junk.
perfectodollars-gabrio: absolutely right, i have seen recently that some software, like windows media player 10, isnt been offered to 2k users. Stamen: no way, XP networking is heaps easier than 2k. IdealBandwidth: 2k does support hyperthreading, im using it on this machine right now. gecko: i dont know what you are doing but ive been running 2k since it came out and i have never had a single crash, ever. with 98/98se i had them at least once every 2 days. Myst: XP boots faster, about 60% of the time 2k takes to boot, as far as running, xp is a little slower, but not a whole lot. My preference is to use 2k, i generally dont upgrade my OS unless there is something that my current one wont do, which I havent found yet with 2k. I also hate the bloated interface of xp, although this can be changed. |
