I picked my top six before the Australian GP. In no particular oder, i chose Schumacher, Alonso, Trulli, Fisichella, Montoya and Raikkonen. Top seven in practice so far is interesting. 6/7. Not too shabby. ;)

01 F. Alonso Renault 1:34.715
02 M. Schumacher Ferrari 1:34.883
03 G. Fisichella Renault 1:34.930
04 K. Räikkönen McLaren 1:35.054
05 J. Trulli Toyota 1:35.573
06 R. Schumacher Toyota 1:35.645
07 JP. Montoya McLaren 1:35.850

should be interesting for the 2nd race of the season - definately with the new rule changes I dont think that Schumacher has quite the same lock as he did for the last few years - will be fun - no favorites for me - just good head to head racing :pimp

PokerCams 03-19-2005 06:34 PM

watching the Sebring 12 hour race now - as a warmup - great watching the glowing brakes and blue fire exhaust!

chodadog 03-19-2005 06:35 PM

You have to remember that Ferrari are still using last year's car. I think they're bringing the new car to the track for the race following Malaysia. Ferrari is claiming that it'll be a second a lap faster than the current car, but that sounds ambitious. But i agree, Schumacher won't have the same grip on the championship this year.

I really want to see Alonso shine. That guy could be the next Schumacher in my opinion. I think he will be better than Schumacher one day.

... michael is the greatest racedriver of all times, it took almost 50 years until someone got better than fangio ... it will take centuries for a better one to step up.

ya - i agree - but hard to know on a new car till its actually out there - new cars almost always have adjustment time - anyways - almost an hour then we can start seeing some good fun!

Bookmark this thread and then come back to read it in 5 years. He will win at least one championship before then. He's only 23, remember. This guy is going to take take over F1 in the next 10 years, in my opinion. Youngest driver to ever win pole position, youngest driver to ever set a fastest lap and youngest driver to ever win a GP. And he's in one of this year's most imrpoved cars.

You can't really compare Fangio to any modern era driver. It's not possible. I think Senna was better than Schumacher. I think Schumacher is on par with Prost.

lol ... its all about the car... Why average drivers like Irvine and Barichello finished 2nd when Shumacher finished first all those years? How was Villeneuve able to beat the greatest driver of all time in 1998..? Sadly.. its impossible to compare the greatest drivers with each others.. too much variables... :2 cents:

Sebring was definitely a good warmup!
When I lived in Fla, I used to shoot for several of the IMSA teams.

I agree with you there! We lost a great driver when Senna passed. With all that he accomplished, he was still fairly young, and would have had at least 5 - 6 more good racing years in him. That would have hindered some of Schumacher's success, certainly.

Looks to be a battle between Renault and Toyota - Ferrari is certainly a bit behind - in fact almost sucking behind... but anything can happen with a good start and crashes - should be fun to watch :thumbsup

Yep...it's been pretty racy with less than 20 to go - "Fishy" just took out Webber...

Renault is going to be tough this year - this race proved that Australia wasn't a fluke

I hear that. Alonso was smooth as silk today. Finally, it's not the "Michael Show" for 25 races in a row...not that I dislike him, but it had been getting a little old.

It will be interesting to see the result of the new Ferrari's - if they get on the stand in the first 1 to 3 times that they use the new cars - then it might be a good indicator - if not - they are probably going to be tuning all season - and make a huge go at it for next year - Mclaren (Montoya) - I just dont see as moving up much more than where they are - but who knows - there are a lot of races to go :) I still see Renault as only getting a bit better!

Alex Xe 03-20-2005 09:38 AM

TOYOTA GO GO GO! :)
I hope Toyota at this year win :)
