Tivo/DirecTv/Vonage - All compatible?

I have DirecTv with Tivo and am thinking of going to VOIP phone service. Can the satelite reciever make the daily and weekly phone calls over Vonage and similar services, or would I have to keep a land line just for the damn satelite?

I have been using Vonage for 3 years now with my direct tv setup with no problems
