I just got a phone call from someone I haven't heard from in 17 years!
My stepfather walked out of our life when I was 14 years old, he had raised me since I was 4 because my natural father was in prison. He was my father figure for 10 years and taught me how to be a man and the importants of selfrespect as well as respect for other. He was always my coach in Football, and Baseball every single year for 10 years! He was also a very strict person and was never afraid to lay down a good ass wippin when needed, for this I hated him and wished that he would leave. Well one day it came true, I was 14, my sister (his natural daughter) was 4, my mother and him had always had problems because of there drinking and they finally parted.
My sister found him 3 months ago and just flew into New Orleans with her right now, He called me and the first thing he said was " I miss you son and I wish you were here"! I lost it and don't know how I should feel? Has this happend to anyone here? I mean anything similiar? |
If I met my old man..I would kick him in the nuts..he left my mom with 3 babies

j/k Go see him catch up what can it hurt? |
I promised, in writing, to piss on the grave of my old man if I ever find out a) that he's dead and b) where he's buried. Not that he doesn't deserve it for a litany of reasons (like setting the dobermans on to watch me while he went off to base up in some friend's basement, dangling me half a foot off the floor by my neck for not taking the garbage out fast enough, fucking some other chick while my mom was giving birth, etc).
If the only gift the guy gave you is teaching you how to hate effectively, then you're probably better off without him, unless you're interested in exacting revenge in the most painful and humiliating ways you can imagine. :2 cents: |

Catch a flight man , go an see him. After all he made you the man you are today.

you cant hate him for his differences with your mother. he turned you into the man who you are today, and for that you should thank him. maybe catch a flight over and have dinner with him. catch up with him... best of luck man

i wouldn't fly out there... he left you guys... if he really loved youm he should've flown down himself to see you.... they leave when you need them the most, then all of a sudden call you up 17 years later... go there and do what? there's gonna be nothing to talk about.. but that's my opinion, you gotta do what you feal is right, ask yourself the question and go with what feals right :2 cents:
