Now that I'm back on solid food, I'd like to thank Brad from Adultpaymaster for watching my back (haha).

The last night in Cancun, I got ahold of some bad lettuce at dinner (yes Greg I know you told me so). I was in the lobby waiting to go out with a bunch of folks and suddenly out of nowhere wasn't feeling quite right. I ran to my room and turned into the exorcist.

I've heard stories of "the water" and such but had no real idea of how HORRIBLE it could be. It sucks cuz I was soooooo good the whole trip, leaving whatever party by 2 every night, drinking lots of bottled water all day, sleeping alot, doing alot of productive business.

Then WHAMMO!! God that was the worst ever. If it hadn't been for Brad, the only one who even knew what was happening cuz I had left him a pleading message for help, I would not have made it on the plane back. He went out and picked up a bunch of water, juice, and medicine. Way beyond the call of duty and I am forever greatful.

It's times like this that ya realize how cool our fellow pornographers can be. There's nothing like projectile vomiting to bring a friendship closer together. LOL

I had to go to the doc first thing and got my fluids replenished and some good antibiotics. I'm JUST getting strong enough to function.

and yeah.. Rrred.. as you sat in front of me eating that salad.. I said.. 'don't do it ;)' oh well. live and learn.. ..

I been there and had to go to the doctor back in like 97 and get sipro to get better.. I waited 10 days and had lost about 15lbs first though. haha

1. never eat uncooked food in mexico (salads and other raw vegies)
2. don't drink water from the tap
3. don't eat dog tacos at 4:00am (er scratch the last one)

Damn, now I feel bad I missed it...sounds like a good time. :P

Wow, sorry that happened to you :( Sounds awful! We have lived here almost 4 months now, eaten all over Cancun and not been sick once.

Are you back to normal now? What did your doctor say it was? I'd like to avoid wherever it was you ate the bad lettuce, where was it?

Those are funny rules Greg! I've eaten beef carpaccio, sushi, steak tartare, rabbit and plenty of salads in Puerto Vallarta and not had a problem at all. I also brush my teeth with the tap water ;)

I guess I just like to live dangerously. Or maybe it's that Cancun is a freaking cesspool that's more like Lauderdale than Mexico, and PV is a way cooler place lol

YARGH! I be havin' a similar experience. It was late on me boat, and I was hungerin' for a batch of nice clammy clam gizzards. After a couple of handfuls I felt as though me butt would expell some vicious brown bouys.

Me first mate Theo came and gave me some fresh squigly squid juice to nurse me back to health. Theo is me saviour!

The ice is ok in mexico, because it is filtered. But the water that they wash the lettuce is straight from the ground.

I actually thought about eating sushi one day while down there.. but then came back to my senses!

Well THAT night was the whole hearts of romaine which didn't affect me. So I didn't think anything of the next night when I had the mixed iceberg... Why didn't anyone else get sick? Am I spoiled by having the best tap water in the country or something? I don't get it...

I got sipro.. I did remember that from our convo so I hit the doctors office right away. I spent most of the day at the hospital but I actually didn't check myself in like they recommended. It would have costed me 2500 bucks so I decided to just take the meds and sip water.. I was holding it down at that point so I didn't see the need to stay in the hospital. Plus, they wouldn't let me use my cell phone :(

Did you hallucinate by chance? I actually hallucinated about two hours during the peak of this... I saw little demons, a guy mowing a lawn, trees, all sorts of shit but only when I closed my eyes. I had a fever too and was shaking and convulsing.

Fuck cancun!!! Never again!

I'm sure a lot of restaurants down there wash their lettuce and veggies with.... you guessed it.... tap water. Not good, and I wouldn't wish it on too many people, certainly not RRRED.

Poppy was able to eat a lot worse than just the lettuce..and he seems fine now..

I always avoid the produce in mexico.. i remember seeing you grabbing that romaine lettuce and was like..ruh roh..

I'm set to spend a month in PV in June... so I'm glad to hear you say that. Everything I've read suggest the 3 best cities in Mexico are Cabo, Acapulco, and Puerto Vallarta. Was in Cabo two years ago and the water was fine. But those cities have been destination hot spots for americans for decades.
