U.S. Senate Republicans are crazy religous nuts, I need to get out of this country
before I'm stuck here.
By MITCH STACY, Associated Press Writer PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - As a deadline loomed, U.S. Senate Republicans sought to keep severely brain-damaged Terri Schiavo alive Friday with an invitation to bring her to Washington, and an attorney for her parents said they hoped the move would buy them more time. The Senate Health Committee has requested that Terri Schiavo and her husband, Michael, appear at an official committee hearing on March 28. Earlier Friday, a House committee was issuing congressional subpoenas to stop doctors from disconnecting the tube. Michael Schiavo has waged a yearslong court battle with his parents-in-law, contending his wife, who has been in a persistent vegetative state since 1990, would not want to live that way. Courts have cleared the way for him to remove her feeding tube as early as 1 p.m. Friday. The tube has been removed twice in the past and then reinserted as the battle continued. "It is a contempt of Congress to prevent or discourage someone from following the subpoena that's been issued," David Gibbs, the attorney for her parents, said. "What the U.S. Congress is saying is, 'We want to see Terri Schiavo.'" READ MORE |

good bye

isn't it nice that the entire senate and congress is spending all of their time trying to save one woman, and dont forget the florida house and senate as well. Its ridiculous you would think they have better things to do.
|
Yes they have Baseball inquiries lol
|
that is ridiculous
|
It is crazy how this country and its leadership are moving so far to the religious right. It really scares me at times, but, I don't think there is a better place to go.

Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think this has anything to do with religion. Terri's parents don't want her to die and are willing to take care of her and free her ex-husband from responsibilites over her. Yes ex-husband as he has remarried and has kids.
There are procedures and examinations that they want performed on her to bring her out of her current state which he has resisted. Does it not make you wonder why he wants her dead so bad? |
Bah. The people who champion the sanctity of marriage don't trust the husband to make the decision. The people who defend state's rights are pushing to remove this from the Florida courts because they know better. The people who want massive cuts in health care costs don't believe 15 years is enough time to support a brain dead woman. The whole thing smacks of lunacy and hypocrisy. But then again, that's business as usual in Washington.

You should also verify that they redirect all their U.S. traffic away from their sites. This person is not a webmaster, so it doesn't apply in this case, but from now on. If they dont like the U.S., allow them to stop getting U.S. traffic to their websites. That should work well. |

He has a new family, that would ease his pain of watching his wife starve to death. I guess |
is it a surprise to you that when you vote republican, you are thereby voting religion into the government?

not true at all, he was offered 10 million dollars to give up his rights to her and he said no. Its not about the money. |

You also might want to be concerned about the way the US constitution is being destroyed by the president and the republicans and some democrats in congress. |

Right to life crowd? We aren't talking a fetus here. I hope I don't have to be religious to live. Seriously what's wrong with letting the Senate investigate? There are just as many non-religious Senators as religious. |
Quote:
The courts over years has already decided that she is a vegetable, why investigate something that judicial branch has already decided on?. |

I thought you were leaving. You should do that instead of trying to convice people on business message boards that conservatives are crazy religious people. |
i think i'd like to know just one thing: why the same people who brought us the iraq war which is killing our soldiers and ten's thousands of iraqi's are struggling to save one woman's life, of which most of her brain is already gone and filled with cerebral fluid.
this is the most rediculous circus show i have ever seen. while she is kept alive, artificially, people with real chance of recovery will die. this whole thing makes me sick. her parent trying to usurp the rights of her spouse. and all the bullshit character assassination of her husband. |

Its precedence. If this guy can commit a homocide on his wife so he can better his life, then who would be in line next to do the same. Legislation needs to be carefully reviewed so that more people won't fall in line. |
For those who think this has nothing to do with the religious right:
Terri Schiavo's father, Bob Schindler, went into the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park at about 9:30 a.m. to visit his daughter. Outside, about three dozen people prayed and wept. "What can wash away our sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus," they sang. |

Just a note for the democratic strategists. If I was on your side, I would send a memo out to everyone asking them not to refer to the republicans as the "religious right". By the nature of your designation, you are implying that the democrats are "non religious". Now we all saw John Kerry visiting black churches and no doubt we will see hillary giving sermons over the next 3 years, you woulnd't want to sell the shithouse and convince the majority of the country you hate their values. Thats just if was in charge. ps, I would also try to rein in some of the keyboard warriors from starting threads like this. |

This is just a story put out by the husband. There is no one who offered him that. |

They don't care about living, non-comatose poor people, and they don't care about people in the countries they're bombing for make believe reasons, but they care about vegetables and fetuses. They don't mind poor children dying of starvation on the streets of their own cities, they don't mind children dying when bombs drop on their houses, but a girl who's been in a coma for 15 years, pulling the plug would make you a murderer. Yep, nothing fucked up about that.
Sometimes I start to think, they're not crazy, they're just really fucking stupid. |

I just can't understand this clear cut division on all and any subjects between Republicans and Democrats ... How can someone just adopt the " whole" thinking of one side and reject completely the other points of view... Probably an America thing.... :2 cents: |

whatever you tell yourself to trick your brain into thinking that are intellectually superior. The rest of us are laughing, but it doesnt matter. You create your own reality. |

another lie put out by the husband. In court documents of the lawsuit he explained how he needed the lawsuit money to "take care of his wife forever" then once the money was in his hands, he immediately stopped giving her medical care. |

"The rest of you"? You mean, other Americans who watch too much TV and blindly support the worst administration in their nation's history? I'm glad those people are laughing at me, if they were agreeing with me, I'd be scared. Hate to break it to you but if you think anyone outside of your borders thinks like you in any way, you're absolutely kidding yourself. Maybe when you graduate you'll do some traveling, that can work wonders. Take a year off before college and travel to a bunch of other countries, your eyes will (hopefully) open up a little. |
