Ya know the one thing about this biz that I've noticed is that the successful people are that way for a reason, and hell they could sell their entire operation, and start over again, and do it again. Then say somebody comes into some dough, and buys your business, thinking they're gonna have a profitable business because it was profitable for the other guy, and it doesn't work, because what works for one usually doesn't work for another...

This business isn't a science, it's an art, and the ones that are truly successful, in any aspect, will be successful no matter when they started...

i think Lensman with the 3-6months period he had in mind what is considered a "non-risky" internet business purchase movement. Actually, internet success is based on adaptation, models that work now probably they won't work in 2-3 years. Spending a large amount to purchase a company which model is not stable and it depends on you if it will remain profitable is not an advisable movement.

of course, almost all business sections depend on adaptation, but we are talking for internet here!

The real value is what people are willing to pay for it. If you really would like to know, find other sites and how much they are selling for(or a wild guess), price yours a a little higher, then put it on the market for offers. You dont have to actually sell it.
I have too many friends that pull the "Guess what I bought, its worth $1,000, but I got a deal and got it for $250"

Dad had a small gift shop a few years back...got them at about $2 each...We went to trade shows and sold them at outrageous prices. I remember a lady asking me to sell her a glory bear "for her daughter" for $120...and she ran away like a thief after i sold it to her. Prices fell 4 months later

I doubt there is any estimating service - if there is - it is probably a scam as like the domain names.

It is a cliche, but your business is worth what someone will pay for it.

Two things are how much is it making now, and how much more does the person buying it think they can make.

If you look at it from a p/e standpoint - 3 months is kinda a shabby amount. 3 years is way to much for anything on the Internet.

However, you also have great branding. I know from doing SEO - that people are looking for your site - not a site LIKE yours - but YOUR SITE. That is worth something.

On the other hand, how much of the business is you? Will people still visit without you in charge? I'd be willing to say that the hun is a much greater asset to thehun.net than whoever was running world sex.

I think the problem you will run into - is there just isn't that many people that are willing and can afford to buy your site - even at the low end of the spectrum.

Who knows, maybe there is, personally - If I had to guess - I would say that $1M would be what I would be willing to shell out for your site if I had the money. I think it is worth more, but I would be looking for a deal http://bbs.gofuckyourself.net/board/smile.gif
